Women’s Fest at SPL

In recognition of Women’s History Month, Suffolk Public Library will be hosting a celebration of women with speakers, self-defense demos, Mammography Van, art projects and more!

Where: North Suffolk Library 2000 Bennetts Creek Park Rd, Suffolk, VA

When: Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 11am-3pm

Cost: This event is FREE and for ALL AGES!

Description: At this event Suffolk Public Library will be accepting donations of menstrual hygiene products for National Organization for Women (NOW)‘s “Go with the Flow” campaign, as well as other products such as shampoo, soap and toothpaste for The Genieve Shelter. There will be a raffle drawing for a PRIZE for those that bring donations.

– To book your appointment with Sentara Healthcare’s Mammography Van call 757-261-5420 and choose Option 1.

– Speakers at the SPL Women’s Fest:

  • 11:10am -11:40 Tracey Keller speaking on the history of the Girl Scouts
  • 11:50-12:20 Carolyn Caywood who will be speaking on Women in Politics
  • 12:30-1:00 Life Coach Amy Walton with “Watch What You Say to Yourself: The Power of Positive Self-Talk”
  • 1:10-1:40 Consortium for Infant and Child Health (CINCH) representative Sara Rothenberg speaking on women and children’s health and normalizing breastfeeding

– Savior Martial Arts will provide women’s self-defense demos.

– Learn about organizations such as:

  • Girls on the Run Hampton Roads
  • National Organization for Women (NOW)
  • League of Women Voters of South Hampton Roads
  • All Girls STEM Society
  • Consortium for Infant and Child Health (CINCH)
  • and many more!

– Enjoy live entertainment from music by The Storyweavers from 2pm-3pm.
