4-H is the youth (ages 5 to 19) development education program of Virginia Cooperative Extension. 4-H is rich with learning experiences where young people partner with caring adults and volunteers in a fellowship unlike any other program available to youth today.

Through 4-H, young people are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities that emphasize 4-H's "learning by doing" philosophy of youth development. 4-H is characterized as being community-centered, volunteer-led, Extension-staff supervised, research-based, home- and family-oriented, publicly and privately funded, and responsive to change.

During the summer, 4-H offers a range of day and residential (overnight) camps.

BLAST offers a dynamic, three-day, residential summer experience on the campuses of Old Dominion University, Virginia Tech and University of Virginia. Through innovative hands-on sessions taught by faculty members and staff, students will explore the fun and excitement of STEM while residing in a college dorm.

Current Virginia 8th and 9th grade students with at least a C+ average and a desire to explore STEM opportunities are encouraged to apply.

BLAST is offered FREE of charge to students; however, transportation to and from the universities is the responsibility of each family. Students who have previously participated in BLAST are not eligible.

Summer Camps for 1st through 6th graders that take place at local elementary schools. This one-of-a-kind weeklong experience connects science, technology, engineering and math through fun hands-on activities.

Camp Invention is led by experienced local educators and new curriculum is introduced each year, inspired by the Inductees of the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Children K-6 are presented with fun, hands-on challenges that encourage creative problem solving, teamwork, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

The Center for Bioelectronics STEM Summer Institute Program is a one-week academic program for rising 6th - 11th graders and rising 12th graders who express a desire to pursue a career in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

The program provides students with information and research experience in various fields of bioenergy, bioelectrical science, materials engineering, and medicine in order to acquaint students with the requirements for pursuing a career in STEM. Middle school students participate in engineering related classroom projects, while high school students blend materials engineering and medical research to solve real world problems.

Scouting Programs and Summer camps, open to Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts ages 6 and up.

A five-day information technology summer camp for girls, offered at ODU through the IT department in the Strome College of Business.

The Hampton Roads Chess Association (HRCA) is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to bringing the benefits of chess to people of all ages and abilities across our region. Serving youth and adult competitive chess players, schools, the handicapped, the elderly, veterans, and Scouts. Ongoing chess programs, instruction, groups and Summer camps available.

The Center for Bioelectronics Stem Summer Institute (SSI) Program is a one-week academic program for rising 6th - 12th graders who are underrepresented in STEM and are interested in STEM research and STEM careers.

Homeschool Plus is dedicated to encouraging Christian homeschooling families in their commitment to provide the best possible education for their children. Offering a full range of enrichment and academic classes for PreK - 12th grade.

Horizons Hampton Roads inspires young minds through proven summer enrichment programs where low-income children are challenged academically, socially and physically to meet with greater successes in school and in life and are rewarded with gains on academic testing and grow in confidence.

Norfolk, Portsmouth, & Virginia Beach Public school students in grades K-8 who qualify for free/reduced lunch are encouraged to apply for Horizons through their guidance counselor.

Discovery Kids Puterbugs prepares children 3 - 8 years old with today's Top 100 Tech Skills, starting with the letters placement on the keyboard. Features small class size, personal attention, and exclusive access to continue the fun and learning online at home!  Classes are offered by Megabyte Tykes in over 31 schools through out South Hampton Roads.

Free admission during the Holidays. Opens in November. Multiple operating model railroads will be displayed. Build your own railroad inside the museum using STEM. Fun, entertaining, and educational.

A variety of programs are available through Norfolk Parks and Recreation including computers, athletics, art, music and more. Afterschool programs available. Birthday Parties available.

Explore the intersection of innovation and development with ODU STEM & Esports Camps! At these camps, youth ages 8-14 will dive into exciting STEM activities and budding esports enthusiasts ages 13-18 will sharpen their gaming skills. Activities take place in Old Dominion University’s cutting-edge Monarch Esports Arena.

Roots for A STEM offers STEM camps for children in Hampton Roads that inspire a passion for science, technology, engineering and math using hands-on lessons designed to excite and demystify the mind.

Norfolk location serves children from Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Newport News, and Hampton.

Join Rosie Riveters for a hands-on, project-based STEM program for girls ages 5-14. The Rosie Riveters program provides a fun space for girls to imagine, create, and play while developing their skills in STEM.

Educational, creative arts, recreational and spiritual activities for all ages. Indoor water park, rock climbing wall. Membership required.

Slover Library carries over 130,000 books and other items available to borrow, hosts classes and events from genealogy to children’s programs, and provides access to leading-edge technology. Some of the different spaces you will find at Slover include:

Tidewater Community College’s weekly College and Career Exploration Camps are being offered all summer long on TCC’s campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth and Suffolk & Virginia Beach.

For youths ages 12 - 18. Drawing on Hampton Roads' rich maritime heritage, Tidewater Wooden Boat Workshop provides area youth with unique and exciting experiential learning opportunities. Students learn math, science and other critical life skills as they build wooden boats and are taught to row and sail them on local waters. After school programming for ages 12-18. Summer camp programs available.
