Commitment to the program through community involvement and volunteer hours will provide these young women the opportunity to receive a $1,000.00 scholarship upon graduation.

Baby Boy Mentoring ProgramBaby Boy Mentoring Program provides services to young men ages 5 - 17 without a father in their lives. Based in Portsmouth, serving all of Hampton Roads.
We want to help these young men improve their academic achievements, self-esteem, social competence, and avoidance of problems/high-risk behavior. We will build a relationship with these young men and show these young men that we care and want to help them achieve greatness. Our goal is to teach and demonstrate the principles of manhood to young men, enabling them to achieve their dreams and become men who are strong, responsible, and productive. -

Brooks Crossing Innovation LabAn instructional hub for STEM learning driven by team building and collaboration allowing opportunities for students and people of all ages, abilities, and disciplines to learn by designing creative solutions to real-world problems.
Open Makerspace: Biweekly program that allows community members to use our makerspace equipment to complete their own projects.
Family Makerspace Program: Monthly program that allows families with kids of all ages to explore STEAM in a fun and hands-on way!
Summer Camps: Hands-on experiences for children of all ages related to STEAM.
Field Trip Opportunities: Various STEAM experiences available for schools and other youth organizations. -
Camp HOPE NorfolkCamp HOPE Norfolk is the first summer camp and mentoring program in Virginia for children who have experienced primary or secondary abuse and trauma. This groundbreaking camp, which offers a clinically-proven curriculum designed to help children overcome trauma to lead more hopeful lives, is being offered by the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the Family Justice Center. Camp HOPE Norfolk is composed of a week of camp, supported by year-round activities.
Children who are eligible are screened through the Family Justice Center, and will attend Camp HOPE Norfolk for free through grants procured through the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office. While this program is based out of Norfolk, it is open to all eligible youth in the Hampton Roads area. -
Camp Launch & Camp OrbitCamp Launch provides eligible students in grades 7-10 with unique academic and enrichment opportunities. Campers are recruited from school districts throughout Virginia to participate in this two-week residential program with courses in STEM, Writing, and Personal Development.
Camp Orbit is a two-week extension of Camp Launch and is designed to provide 5-6 Camp Launch alums with an opportunity to participate in hands-on research and mentorship with a W&M or VIMS professor. -
CHKD Junior Volunteer ProgramEach year, teenagers who turn 15 on or before June 1 and are still in high school can apply to participate in our Summer Junior Volunteer Program. Returning junior volunteers receive their application information in February, and forms for new applicants are available annually on March 1. The program is divided into multiple sessions, each lasting 2 weeks.
Assignments are available at our main hospital campus in downtown Norfolk, as well as many satellite centers including Virginia Beach, Newport News, Chesapeake, and Suffolk. -
Citizen Police Academy for Youth (CPAY)The Citizen Police Academy for Youth (CPAY) provides teenagers - ages 14 to 17 - an inside look at local law enforcement through a variety of subjects pertaining to police work. The youth are instructed by police officers, civilians, other city Department agencies and community partners.

Civil Air Patrol – Virginia WingAges 12+. Developing youth into responsible citizens and tomorrow's aerospace leaders. CAP is the volunteer, nonprofit auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. Its three missions are to develop its cadets, educate Americans on the importance of aviation and space, and perform life-saving, humanitarian missions.

ForKidsForKids works to support families and children experiencing homelessness in Hampton Roads.
Housing Services include emergency housing, rapid rehousing, supportive housing, and support to Veterans Families. Families experiencing a housing crisis can call the ForKids hotline at (757) 587-4202.
Families receiving housing services may also receive housing-focused case management, life skills training, job coaching, mental health services, and children's education programming. Children experiencing homelessness may receive education support such as customized instruction, mentoring, advocacy, afterschool tutoring, summer educational programs. Healing With Hip-Hop helps youth, ages 8-17 years old, heal from trauma and grief they experience when someone they know, or love, is hurt or killed by violence. We utilize music and various arts to assist us in doing this.
Triple P Parenting Program - Triple P stands for Positive Parenting Program. We provide Triple P parenting services that are evidence-based, accredited, and administered by trained providers. We offer different levels of Triple P so that we are able to meet a family’s unique needs, instead of using cookie-cutter services. We are able to serve parents who are court or DSS mandated to complete services, or parents who just want to strengthen themselves. We understand that children do not come with an instructional manual, and no parent is perfect!

Our Stand Tall initiative is a program that focuses on building self-esteem. Universal General MMA builds self-esteem through exercise and mentor-ship. children with higher self-esteem are less bullied. Furthermore, mentored students with high self-esteem are less likely to get into a fight.
Law Enforcement Explorer - Law Enforcement Exploring is a hands-on program open to young men and women who have completed the 6th grade through 20 years old, interested in a career in law enforcement or a related field in the criminal justice system. The program offers young adults a personal awareness of the criminal justice system through training, practical experiences, competition and other activities. Additionally, the program promotes personal growth through character development, respect for the rule of law, physical fitness, good citizenship and patriotism.
After School - The Portsmouth Parks & Recreation in partnership with Portsmouth Police Athletic League (PPAL) After School Program is designed to provide Portsmouth’s youth with a safe environment while participating in a wide variety of educational and recreational opportunities.
PAL Summer camp is hosted by the Portsmouth Police Department. Includes Fun Daily Activities, Weekly Field Trips, Lessons on Crime Prevention, Bullying, and more. This camp is only open to Portsmouth residents ages 5-13. -
