4-H is the youth (ages 5 to 19) development education program of Virginia Cooperative Extension. 4-H is rich with learning experiences where young people partner with caring adults and volunteers in a fellowship unlike any other program available to youth today.

Through 4-H, young people are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities that emphasize 4-H's "learning by doing" philosophy of youth development. 4-H is characterized as being community-centered, volunteer-led, Extension-staff supervised, research-based, home- and family-oriented, publicly and privately funded, and responsive to change.

During the summer, 4-H offers a range of day and residential (overnight) camps.

There are unlimited possibilities for club and/or individual member areas of interest:

Local farm offering a roadside market with fresh produce, baked goods, ice cream, and our pick-your-own fields and orchards. Cullipher Farm offer fruits for picking throughout the season including Strawberries, Blueberries, Peaches, Grapes, Apples, and Pumpkins. Each fall they have a unique themed corn maze. On-site play area.

Based out of Virginia Beach, Ebbing Tides provides Stand-Up Paddleboards (SUP) sales, rentals, lessons, and tours in the Chesapeake Bay, Lynnhaven Inlet, and the Atlantic Ocean.

Enroll your child in this enriching, nature focused camp all to do with the natural, historical, and cultural resources of First Landing State Park. Our Park Rangers promise to deliver safe and exciting experiences in the outdoors for your camper through quality educational programming including guided hikes, games, applied science activities, interactions with live animals, crafts, and more. We will dive deep into topics like local flora and fauna, outdoor skill building, park history, and themes of environmental stewardship. To reward your campers for embodying the values of park service, the week will conclude with a graduation celebration to certify our newest class of Junior Rangers! Weekly sessions. A child led, parent facilitated, forest exploration group. We will occasionally have activities the kids can learn from as they're interested but we defer to the children's lead believing that a child's play is their best work. (Facebook Group)

Summer trail camp focusing on heightening the awareness level of the outdoor world through exploration and fun. The beauty and diversity of First Landing State Park provide the perfect setting for learning about our natural surroundings. From the maritime forest to the tidal salt marsh and cypress swamps campers will explore the various trails and waters edge as they cultivate a deeper understanding of the outdoor world.

Scouting Programs and Summer camps, open to Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts ages 6 and up.

Family Nature Clubs worldwide are dedicated to helping people get time in nature back on the family calendar by providing regular opportunities to engage in hikes, paddles, camping trips and other fun outdoor family activities.

Petting Farm with many children's activities including animals, Birdwalk Aviary, and TreeWalk Adventure. Birthday parties. Special Events.

42-acre preserve with more than 12,000 feet of shoreline. Boating, fishing, playground, trails, fishing platform, boat ramp, picnic area, bathrooms and more. Now available at Lake Lawson/ Lake Smith, rent a kayak from a kiosk that functions like a vending machine.

Marshview Park is home to 100 acres of wooded property on Lake Rudee in the Oceanfront area complete with bike trail system, dog park, asphalt trails, playgrounds, and more.

Offering outdoor nature programs for children.

The Nature Bus offers customized nature experiences and tours across Coastal Virginia, focusing on connecting people with nature. They provide a variety of programs including guided nature tours, team-building events, summer camps, birthday parties, and educational experiences - including Tinkergarten classes.

Riding lessons - One hour long private lessons with Mrs. Sylvia. Students help groom and tack up the horse, ride, and untack at the end of their lesson. Students will advance through the various stages of riding as their instructor sees fit. Each lesson is tailored to the individual student. All levels are welcome, beginner to advanced! Summer camps available.

Presented by the Oyster Reef Keepers of Virginia. We use our child-sized kayaks, stand up paddleboards, surfboards, nets and explore our local estuarine habitats on every
Sea Camp. All camps are 9 AM – 4 PM. Proceeds support our award winning student oyster restoration program with
local schools.

Natural area with available hiking, fishing, bird watching, horseback riding, nature observation. Multi-use trails: 2.5 miles of soft path and .3 miles of paved ADA-compliant trails.

What The Farm Kids Camp is a summer, week-long full-day program for children ages 5-12 years old. Campers will work with our experienced farm staff to learn about sustainable agricultural practices, such as caring for our farm animals, collecting eggs, turning compost, planting, weeding, irrigating, harvesting, studying bees and pollinators, and making homemade foods. What The Farm is all about fostering a child’s creativity, natural curiosity, and appreciation for the outdoors… oh, and lots of ORGANIC fun!
