4-H is the youth (ages 5 to 19) development education program of Virginia Cooperative Extension. 4-H is rich with learning experiences where young people partner with caring adults and volunteers in a fellowship unlike any other program available to youth today. During the summer, 4-H offers a range of day and residential (overnight) camps.

Summer trail camp focusing on heightening the awareness level of the outdoor world through exploration and fun. The beauty and diversity of First Landing State Park provide the perfect setting for learning about our natural surroundings. From the maritime forest to the tidal salt marsh and cypress swamps campers will explore the various trails and waters edge as they cultivate a deeper understanding of the outdoor world.

The lama for example, just grows straight to my face, looks me in the eye, but don’t say a thing or spit…just puts his face right in my face and looks at me and breaths 😂
The kids had an Amazing time at the play area and petting areas. The mini cow staff lady was super sweet and very informative.

The whole place is so beautiful and the animals are so well cared for! My 3 year old was so amazed that it is all he has talked about since!
The cow cuddle session is so cute! The worker in the pen was also very very nice and informative!

Nature Pals is a hands-on, outdoor nature education program designed to support curiosity, creativity, and a love for the natural world—making it a great fit for homeschoolers and nature-loving families.
Classes are held at the Princess Anne Recreation Center and feature a different Virginia animal species each month. Our sessions are play- and game-based, with activities that blend science, art, and outdoor exploration to make learning engaging and memorable.
This fall, we’re offering sessions: Grownup & Me Nature Pals – Ages 3–6, and Nature Pals for Kids – Ages 7–9. Classes are fully outdoors, with a focus on active learning in a safe, supportive environment. Check link for upcoming sessions and fees.

The Nature Bus offers customized nature experiences and tours across Coastal Virginia, focusing on connecting people with nature. They provide a variety of programs including guided nature tours, team-building events, summer camps, birthday parties, and educational experiences - including Tinkergarten classes.
Riding lessons - One hour long private lessons with Mrs. Sylvia. Students help groom and tack up the horse, ride, and untack at the end of their lesson. Students will advance through the various stages of riding as their instructor sees fit. Each lesson is tailored to the individual student. All levels are welcome, beginner to advanced! Summer camps available.
Explore and enjoy our local waters with kayaks, paddleboards, surfboards and nets. All camps are 9 AM – 3 PM where we are outside all day. Bob is a marine biologist, teacher, outdoorsman and father of three kids with 30+ years experience leading field trips on the water. Ages 8+
