Hampton: Camps

4-H is the youth (ages 5 to 19) development education program of Virginia Cooperative Extension. 4-H is rich with learning experiences where young people partner with caring adults and volunteers in a fellowship unlike any other program available to youth today.

Through 4-H, young people are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities that emphasize 4-H's "learning by doing" philosophy of youth development. 4-H is characterized as being community-centered, volunteer-led, Extension-staff supervised, research-based, home- and family-oriented, publicly and privately funded, and responsive to change.

During the summer, 4-H offers a range of day and residential (overnight) camps.

There are unlimited possibilities for club and/or individual member areas of interest:

Community Workshop and Studios. Tools, Equipment & 24/7 access for people who want to design, play, make, create, and innovate. Classes are available in all different mediums. Summer camps available.

Programs for ages 18mos - 12 years old. Introduces the fundamentals of a variety of different sports (soccer, hockey, volleyball, basketball, tennis, lacrosse, football, track and field, baseball, and golf) in a non-competitive environment. Classes, Single/Multi-Day Camps and Birthday Parties are available.

Soccer Camps are designed for young first time players (ages 5-15). Your daughter or son will receive small group instruction from certified coaches. Our camp philosophy emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship and fun. We help develop their individual skills and their love of the beautiful game!

The traditional Scouting experience where boys and girls can have their share of adventure in the great outdoors. We offer these traditions by allowing our youth to volunteer in their community, boost their leadership skills through fun and exciting challenges, and create memories that last a lifetime. Scouts also get a chance to earn Scouting's highest rank, Eagle Scout. This program is available for boys and girls ages 11-17.

The Hampton Roads Chess Association (HRCA) is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to bringing the benefits of chess to people of all ages and abilities across our region. Serving youth and adult competitive chess players, schools, the handicapped, the elderly, veterans, and Scouts. Ongoing chess programs, instruction, groups and Summer camps available.

Therapeutic recreation activities may include swimming classes, craft classes, trips, camps, adult programs, special events, and varied offerings every season.

Enrichment and academic opportunities for participants of all ages.

This state-of-the-art aquatics center provides recreational opportunities for the community with a 50-meter pool, a 25-yard pool and an outdoor splash park. This facility serves two purposes: as a community fitness and wellness center with swimming lessons and as a generator of youth sports travel. The complex offers water safety and first learn-to-swim classes to all Hampton second-grade students. Spring and summer camps available.

Monday - Friday from 9am - 1pm and 4pm - 7pm

The Junior Commonwealth's Attorney Program, aimed at students who will be entering the seventh through 10th grades in the fall, provides an up-close look at law enforcement and court proceedings at the local and state levels.

Climbing gym. Bouldering, yoga, and fitness offered - routes are updated frequently and provide something for all skill levels. Available for birthday parties and special events. Summer camps.

Carrington Institute: Exciting Summer Camp activities including robotics, "mad science"experiments, and space exploration. Weekly field trips and sports, Sensory-friendly activities for students with special needs and learning differences, academic support, summer literacy components. Preschool and Child Care Center for children ages 6 weeks to 5yrs. Summer programs available. Formally the Downtown Hampton Child Development Center.

Summer riding camp - This day camp uses friendly, trained horses to make reading fun and enjoyable. Campers will gain knowledge of all types of horses, riding equipment, and terminology.

Royalty Brand Athletics (RBA) is dedicated to the growth and development of noncompetitive and competitive athletes training in all-star cheer, dance and gymnastics. Private and group instruction is available.

Runway training, etiquette, and life skills classes.
Runway Rules specializes with girls ages 6-17.

Offering weekly Russian language and Art classes for bilingual children ages 1 to 15 as well as Russian as a Foreign Language instruction for those wishing to learn Russian. All classes are taught by native speakers.

Stick Power serves the Virginia Peninsula training all field hockey players from ages 6-18. SPFH connects young athletes with college players and coaches to provide the best training. Summer Camps.

VA Hard2Guard trains boys and girls ages 5 and up. We pride ourselves in developing student-athletes and in challenging them to become the very best they can be.

The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is one of the largest, non-profit, volunteer, sports organizations in the United States. A multi-sport organization, the AAU is dedicated exclusively to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs.

Outreach soccer program for boys and girls in the Virginia peninsula area -Hampton, Newport News, and York County. Ages 2 and up. Soccer Camps available.

The Virginia Earth System Science Scholars (VESSS) program is an interactive online science, technology, engineering, and mathematics learning experience for Virginia high school juniors and seniors, highlighted by a seven-day residential summer academy at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. Students selected to participate in the program are immersed in NASA-related research, focusing on the Earth’s responses to changes in climate, weather, and natural hazards, through interaction with scientists, engineers, and technologists.

​Wash N Fro’s exciting natural hair camp introduces students (ages 11-17) to the world of self-confidence and teaches the fundamental principles of natural hair! Whether students are exploring hair styling for their own confidence or pursuing their dreams of becoming a stylist in the future, join us for a hands-on experience they won’t forget!

Our dynamic program teaches how to maintain a positive mental well-being while learning basic natural hair care… including how to properly wash and twist!

Students will piece the mind together to get the perfect design and balance through positive mental health techniques. We will learn strategies to help detox the mind, come to understand the power of positive affirmations and positive thought replacement, and touch on health, fitness, wellness & education.
