How to Promote Your Family-Focused Business on MyActiveChild (Free + Upgrade Options)

Run a program, business, or event for Hampton Roads families? Here are the ways to get in front of local parents on MyActiveChild.com — most are free — plus how to upgrade when you want more visibility. Feel free to share this with other local directors and business owners!

1. Directory Listings (Free)

Free listings are available for youth activities, family-friendly services, and parenting resources in the 757.

Step 1: Check if you’re already listed

Search the directory for your business name. Many local businesses are already listed!

Step 2a: Found it? Claim it

Claiming lets you update your info, photos, and links anytime.

1. Open your listing page and scroll down to “Claim Listing.”
2. Log in, or create a free account and confirm your email.
3. Go back to your listing page (while logged in) and submit the claim.

We review every claim and may contact you to confirm you’re with the business.

Step 2b: Not listed? Add it

Submit a new free listing here. We review each listing to make sure it fits our Activities, Athletics, or Resources categories. Once approved, you can edit it anytime.

2. Events (Free)

Add your family-friendly events to our Community Calendar, where thousands of local families look for things to do every week.

3. Community Updates & Announcements ($50, or free for select posts)

Have news to share? Registration opening, a new program, an open house, a scholarship, volunteer opportunities, or a special offer?

• Community Update ($50): most updates. These may be featured on our homepage, our Community Updates page, social media, and our email newsletter.
• Free editorial consideration: select community opportunities (like free family events, library programs, community resources, and nonprofit workshops) may be chosen for free coverage. Not every submission is selected.

4. Our Facebook Group (Free)

Share with local parents in the MyActiveChild.com Facebook Group:

• Free events or programs: post once per week in the group.
• Paid events, programs, or businesses: share as a comment on our “ANYTHING GOES” Friday post (posted every Friday at 9 AM).
