TERROR WOODS

Activity: A haunted walk in the dark woods provides spooky attractions for horror fans. Gruesome creatures creep from dark crevices. Leering, shrieking clowns emerge from unseen hiding spots. Even the rustle of the wind through the dry leaves induces terror. This Halloween, those brave enough to chance a walk through Terror Woods at Great Bridge Pumpkin Patch can immerse themselves in a truly fearful experience. The lengthy, wooded trail features actors and eerie animated props that send guests scuttling. And, if guests still have their wits about them, one look at the dilapidated cabin along the trail, with its inhabitants staggering out and inching closer and closer to the path’s edge, will surely send them reeling.

A HAUNTING AT GREENBRIER FARMS

Activity: This years theme: PHOBIAS! Your biggest fears will be around every corner giving you the scare of a lifetime. FORT MONROE GHOST WALK

Activity:  The Ghost Walk at Fort Monroe is back again and sharing the haunting tales that accompany the very real history of Fort Monroe. This year we will explore buildings, structures, and the real life history of some of Fort Monroe’s lesser known people as we share with you some recently discovered real life stories and of course some of our traditional haunting tales! A true tragic romance, a mysterious bike ride, and other odd tales from residents are just a few of the mysterious stories you will experience when you join us for this year’s Ghost Walk at Fort Monroe, Where History Meets Mystery. Additional Information: Teens under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and this tour is not recommended for children under the age of 12. Walking tour. Rain or shine.

Even if you’ve been a regular on our Horror Tours in the past, you won’t want to miss their reincarnation! THE HAUNTED TRAIL AT ENDVIEW PLANTATION

Cost: Purchase your tickets in advance at Eventbrite for $10 (plus $2.51 convenience fee) or in person at the gate for $15, cash only.
Activity: The Haunted Trail is a guided experience with timed tickets. Groups will depart every 10 minutes. Please arrive about 10 minutes before your departure time to park, check in, and have some Halloween candy. The Trail is more family friendly than terrifying. Please join us if you enjoy being scared! If it’s not scary enough for you, please be respectful of other guests. If you are too scared to continue, let your guide know. We have never lost a visitor!

 

HAUNTED HOUSE- WALK OF TERROR

Activity: The Haunted Norfolk Tour themes are of an adult nature, and include references to ghosts, murders, suicides, and other treachery. It is at a parent’s discretion as to whether their child is mature enough for this content. 90 minute walking tour.

 

SPOOKY ACRES HAUNTED HOUSE

Activity: Walk through if you dare… Come celebrate 29 years of haunting with the March of Dimes annual Spooky Acres Haunted House! We’ll scare the “yell” out of you! We offer a babysitting area for your children while you go through, so there’s no need to find a sitter for an evening of fun. Portion of proceeds to benefit the March of Dimes.

GHOST TOURS OF GRANBY THEATER

Activity: Come experience real life stories and experiences from The Granby Theater staff about the ghosts that exist here at the Historic Granby Theater. Granby Theater. We have over a 100 year history here at the theater with deaths that have taken place within the theater and the ghosts that remain. Come explore our back hallways where your hair will stand up and you may even see Charlie who still roams the halls of our theater.

HAUNTED TEMPLE

Activity: Each year around Halloween, the Norfolk Masonic Temple transforms into the Haunted Temple. Actors take on the roles of creepy clowns, spirits, ghosts, and undead to bring the visitor’s nightmares to life, and the state-of-the-art animatronics and special effects ram up the terror. Those who emerge on the other end of the maze can wind down with a slice of pizza or a drink.

OLDE TOWNE GHOST WALK 

Address: Trinity Episcopal Church, 500 Court Street, Portsmouth, VA

Activity: Ghosts of the Olde Towne Ghost Walk tell their tales of love, loss, murder and mayhem! Patrons are guided on a walking tour through the historic distric of Olde Towne, Portsmouth. At each haunted house visitors hear costumed actors retell the legends of ghostly visitations and things that go bump in the night! Olde Towne, Portsmouth is a 20-square block, 500 building area on the National Register of Historic Places. This tour is family friendly. It’s spooky, not scary. No one jumps out to scare you. Cameras are welcome. Houses are private properties and not open to the public. The ghosts of the Olde Towne Ghost Walk only appear once a year on the Friday before Halloween!

Family Tour: They say “Dead men tell no tales,” but that’s not true! Come out and hear the stories of those buried in Virginia’s oldest continuous cemetery at St Luke’s Historic Church & Museum. This is NOT a ghost tour but it might get a little spooky at times.

LEGENDS OF MAIN STREET: A SUFFOLK GHOST WALK

Activity: A hair-raising encounter with the spirited side of Suffolk. Follow a costumed guide through the shadows of historic Main Street discovering stories, legends and “unexplained occurrences” by lantern light. Tales of unsolved mysteries and unresolved affairs abound throughout Suffolk’s historically hip Ghost Walk. Reservations required.

VICTORIAN SUFFOLK: DYING TO BE THERE, A Guided Discovery of Cedar Hill Cemetery

Address: Seaboard Station Railroad Museum Parking Lot, 326 North Main Street, Suffolk, VA 23434
2024 Dates: Saturday, September 21 at 6 p.m. Saturday, October 19 at 5 p.m. Saturday, October 26 at 5 p.m.

Activity: This 75-minute walking tour explores the hidden meanings buried in Suffolk’s Historic Cedar Hill Cemetery. The tour will feature Victorian-era symbolism, burial practices, funerary industries, and mourning rituals. This intriguing and educational excursion will highlight how the residents of Suffolk both lived and died in the 19th century. Cedar Hill Cemetery is more than two centuries old, with roots that harken back to the founding of Suffolk. With keen eyes and curious minds, this tour will bring into focus the fascinating world of Victorian America, their obsession with death, dying, and living beyond the grave.

Activity: Walk the torch lit trails of Kay’s Acres this October with the creatures and lost souls from a carnival tragedy decades ago. This doesn’t mean it’s not a great place to enjoy yourself during the day. But at night, you can certainly tell.. there’s a lot here that…hasn’t left…

HAUNTED BACON’S CASTLE

Join our Haunted History Tours for a rare opportunity to walk through the 359-year-old halls at night at 7pm and 8:15pm. An interpreter will lead you through the house, sharing four centuries of stories. Maybe you will have your own ghostly encounter! Activities: The Ghosts, Witches and Pirates Tour. This tour will take you to the darkest street in town, right to the jail. Your guide will share with you the many ways in which they decided if someone were a witch or not. You will hear of Blackbeard and his crew, town conspiracy, some historical trivia and even a little bit of ghosts thrown in. Children ages 6 and under are free so do not reserve for them.

Activity: Step into the shadows and experience the eerie ambiance of Williamsburg after dark on our Dead of Night Ghost Tour. As night falls, the spirits of the past come out to play, and our expert guides will take you on a spine-tingling journey through the town’s haunted history. From the stories of restless spirits to the unsolved mysteries of the Colonial era, this tour will give you a glimpse into the darker side of Williamsburg’s past. Activity: From authentic 18th-century colonial ghost stories to creepy modern-day encounters, costumed storytellers share unnerving tales on this Colonial Williamsburg walking ghost tour. Haunted Williamsburg is the only tour that takes you inside our historic buildings. Haunted Williamsburg is the official ghost tour experience of Colonial Williamsburg. The one-hour candlelit walking tour begins at the Market House and is suitable for ages eight and older. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Runs rain or shine, except in cases of severe inclement weather. Unfortunately, most of the interior spaces are not accessible to wheelchairs and scooters. Tour is not ADA accessible.
