FORT MONROE GHOST WALK

Activity: Join us for a walking tour to explore some of the unexplainable phenomenon surrounding historic Fort Monroe. The Ghost Walk at Fort Monroe has returned to share with you the haunting tales that accompany the very real history of Fort Monroe. This year we will explore homes, buildings, structures as we share with you a brand new route, new stories and new experiences! Chairs that rock by themselves, a soldier in an attic, the very real and odd pirate history of Fort Monroe are just a few of the mysterious tales you will experience when you join us for this year’s Fort Monroe Ghost Walk, Where History Meets Mystery.
Additional Information: Teens under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and this tour is not recommended for children under the age of 12.

HAMPTON HORROR TOURS

Activity: With no sighting in over two years, our Horror Tours are back to bring tales of mystery and the macabre to the streets of Hampton…and with more fun and fright than ever before! Even if you’ve been a regular on our Horror Tours in the past, you won’t want to miss their reincarnation! There are new stories, new personages to meet from the mists of time, and plenty of surprises in store! Leaving from the museum, these 60-minute tours include eerie tales of old Hampton and the Coastal Virginia area. Each tour will include the grisly side of Hampton history, a spooky lantern tour of the St. John’s Church graveyard, and other points of fright along Queen Street and around Downtown Hampton.

The Ghost Train: A Search for the Paranormal at Lee Hall Depot (Newport News)

Activity: Participate in the first ever paranormal investigation of historic Lee Hall Depot. Associates of Virginia Paranormal Investigators will lead visitors on an evening exploration of the station. What will they find? Encounter a former postmaster who in 1914 was mysteriously sucked off the platform at a nearby station and dismembered by the wheels of a passing freight train. A haunted caboose, music, and other activities round out the evening’s offerings.

HAUNTED TEMPLE

Activity: Each year around Halloween, the Norfolk Masonic Temple transforms into the Haunted Temple. Actors take on the roles of creepy clowns, spirits, ghosts, and undead to bring the visitor’s nightmares to life, and the state-of-the-art animatronics and special effects ram up the terror. Those who emerge on the other end of the maze can wind down with a slice of pizza or a drink.

GHOST TOURS GRANBY THEATER

Activity: One hour tour beginning at midnight. Come experience real life stories and experiences from The Granby Theater staff about the ghosts that exist here at the Historic Granby Theater. HAUNTED NORFOLK TOUR

Activity: The Haunted Norfolk Tour will walk you through some of Downtown’s otherworldly-histories; from ghost stories and real life tragedies, to experiments from another dimension. We’ll crawl the depths of Norfolk and explore all the spooky charm it has to offer. Join us, if you dare.

HISTORY SPEAKS: HISTORIC HAUNTINGS AT MOSES MYERS HOUSE

Address: Moses Myers House, 323 E Freemason St, Norfolk, VA
Dates: Sunday, October 2, 2022 at 1pm
Cost: Free for Museum members, $5 for non-members. Registration is required. Space is limited.
Activity: “Is this house haunted?” is one of the most popular questions at the Myers House. Every old house has mysteries and the Moses Myers House is no exception. During this spooky tour, hear the true tales of Myers family history as we ask, “Do the ghosts of the past still walk these haunted halls?”

Activity: Walk through if you dare… Come celebrate 28 years of haunting with the March of Dimes annual Spooky Acres Haunted House! We’ll scare the “yell” out of you! We are still located in Portsmouth, where you can experience a frightening scare at Spooky Acres! We even offer a babysitting area once it’s your turn to go through. We are 100% wheelchair friendly!!!

OLDE TOWNE GHOST WALK 

Address: Trinity Episcopal Church, 500 Court Street, Portsmouth, VA
Date: Friday, October 28, 2022 from 6:15-9:30pm.
Cost: $15. Tickets are available to purchase beginning October 1. Online ticket sales will close at noon on Friday, October 28. Limited tickets will be sold at the door. For guaranteed entry, please pre-purchase tickets online.
Activity: Ghosts of the Olde Towne Ghost Walk tell their tales of love, loss, murder and mayhem! Patrons are guided on a walking tour through the historic district of Olde Towne, Portsmouth. At each haunted house visitors hear costumed actors retell the legends of ghostly visitations and things that go bump in the night! Olde Towne, Portsmouth is a 20-square block, 500 building area on the National Register of Historic Places. This tour is family-friendly. It’s spooky, not scary. No one jumps out to scare you. Cameras are welcome. Houses are private properties and not open to the public. This event takes place rain or shine.

ADULTS ONLY TWILIGHT CEMETERY TOURS

Address: St. Luke’s Historic Church & Museum, 14477 Benns Church Blvd, Smithfield, VA 23430
Date: Friday, October 21, 2022 hourly from 7-10pm.
Activity: Adults Only Twilight Cemetery Tours  –  A hard cider tasting featuring Sly Clyde Ciderworks will be included in the experience. Guests must be 21 years of age or older to participate. IDs will be checked at the door and anyone without an ID or who is younger than 21 years old will not be admitted. Dead men don’t tell tales, but their tombstones do! St. Luke’s has been the site of burials since the 1600’s. Enjoy the stories of local saints and sinners on a guided tour through the Ancient Cemetery. There will be 4 time slots available: 7 p.m., 8 p.m., 9 p.m., and 10 p.m. The experience will take approximately 1 hour.

LEGENDS OF MAIN STREET: A SUFFOLK GHOST WALK

Activity: A hair-raising encounter with the spirited side of Suffolk. Follow a costumed guide through the shadows of historic Main Street discovering stories, legends and “unexplained occurrences” by lantern light. VICTORIAN SUFFOLK: DYING TO BE THERE, A Guided Discovery of Cedar Hill Cemetery

Activity: This 75-minute walking tour explores the hidden meanings buried in Suffolk’s Historic Cedar Hill Cemetery. The tour will feature Victorian-era symbolism, burial practices, funerary industries, and mourning rituals. This intriguing and educational excursion will highlight how the residents of Suffolk both lived and died in the 19th century. Cedar Hill Cemetery is more than two centuries old, with roots that harken back to the founding of Suffolk. Activity: For a Halloween-themed experience this fall, check out our Haunted Williamsburg and Ghost Walk Junior ghost tours. Haunted Williamsburg – From authentic 18th-century colonial ghost stories to creepy modern-day encounters, costumed storytellers share unnerving tales on this Colonial Williamsburg ghost tour. Haunted Williamsburg is the only tour that takes you inside our historic buildings. The one-hour candlelit walking tour begins at the Play House Stage on Palace Green and is suitable for ages 8 and older. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Runs rain or shine, except in cases of severe inclement weather. Unfortunately, most of the interior spaces are not accessible to wheelchairs and scooters. Tour is not ADA accessible. Ghost Walk Jr. is returning to the Historic Area to bring an exciting new interactive storytelling experience for those seeking less fright and more fun!
