Updated for the 2026 season. Bookmark this page. Haunts announce their dates through September and October, so we add each one as it is confirmed. Entries still showing last year’s schedule are labeled 2025 dates, 2026 not yet announced so you can tell at a glance what is confirmed and what is not.

CHESAPEAKE:

FRIGHTMARE

Address: 1905 South Military Highway Chesapeake, VA 23320
Dates: Now in its 12th year. Opens September 11, 2026, with select nights through September and October. See Frightmare’s own calendar graphics for exact dates. September nights run 7pm to 9pm; October nights open at 7pm (arrive by 9pm to guarantee entry).
Cost: $20 cash, $25 card. Xtreme (full contact) +$5.
Activity: Frightmare is an intense and graphic haunt in Chesapeake, VA. Disturbing scenes of gore, carnage and horrific mayhem! Come scream with us this Fall! UNDER 18 MUST HAVE A PARENT OR GUARDIAN! Find a link to updates here.

TERROR WOODS

Address: Great Bridge Pumpkin Patch, Chesapeake, VA. The patch has moved to a new location for 2026, so check their site for the current address.
2026: Not running this season. Great Bridge Pumpkin Patch has confirmed Terror Woods will not be part of this year, because their new location has no wooded areas.
Activity: The haunted woods walk is on hold for 2026. The daytime pumpkin patch is still running at the new site. Find a link to updates here.

A HAUNTING AT GREENBRIER FARMS

Address: Historic Greenbrier Farms 225 Sign Pine Road, Chesapeake VA 23322
2026 Dates: Friday and Saturday nights, September 25 through October 31, 2026. Gates open at 6pm and walkthroughs start at 7pm.
Theme: The 2026 theme is Massacre on the Farm.
Cost: $30 per walkthrough. Tickets go on sale day-of at the market from 6pm. Parking is $10 Friday through Sunday.
Activity: Once the sun goes down the farm becomes Massacre on the Farm, a haunted walk-through with live actors, disturbing scenes, heavy fog, darkness and scares you will not see coming. Once you enter, there is no turning back. Find a link to updates here.
Daytime, family-friendly option: The same farm runs its Fall Festival from Friday September 25 through Sunday November 1, 2026: Sunday to Thursday 9am to 6pm, Friday and Saturday 9am to 10pm. Pumpkin picking, free hayrides to the pumpkin patch, farm animals, local vendors, and food and drinks. There is no entry fee for the farm, and an $8 kids wristband covers the playground, bounce houses, corn maze and barnyard animals. Parking is $10 Friday through Sunday.

HAMPTON

FORT MONROE GHOST WALK

Address: Fort Monroe Visitor & Education Center, 30 Ingalls Road, Fort Monroe, VA
Dates: October 16-18, 2026, nightly from 6:15pm (specific times vary by night).
Cost: Tickets sold via Eventbrite; not recommended for children under 12.
Activity: The Ghost Walk at Fort Monroe is back again and sharing the haunting tales that accompany the very real history of Fort Monroe. Additional Information: Teens under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and this tour is not recommended for children under the age of 12. Walking tour. Rain or shine. Find a link to updates here.

HAMPTON HORROR TOURS

Address: Hampton History Museum, 120 Old Hampton Lane, Hampton, VA
2026 Dates: Two tours nightly on Saturday, October 24, Thursday, October 29, Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31.
Cost: $18 per person in advance $20 per person at the door $15 per child 8-12 (not recommended for children under 8)
Activity: Each tour will include the grisly side of Hampton history, surprises, twists, turns and a spooky visit to the St. John’s Church graveyard, and other points of fright along Queen Street and around Downtown Hampton. Those who dare, not only experience local tales of mystery and the macabre, but will serve as jurors to decide the eternal fate of the spirits encountered. THE HAUNTED WOODS OF BUCKROE

Address: Buckroe Commons, 1936 Pembroke Ave, Hampton, VA 23663. The trail is in the woods behind the cafe.
2026 Dates: Friday and Saturday nights in October: October 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24 and 30, 2026, 7:30pm to 10pm.
Cost: $18 pre-registration online, $20 at the door. Tours are limited. Get tickets here.
Activity: An outdoor haunted trail through the woods after dark. It is presented by Operation Restoration, a 501c3 non-profit, as their annual fundraiser. Find dates and details here.

NEWPORT NEWS:

THE HAUNTED TRAIL AT ENDVIEW PLANTATION

Address: Historic Endview Plantation, 362 Yorktown Rd, Newport News, VA 23603

Activity: The Haunted Trail is a guided experience with timed tickets. The Trail is more family friendly than terrifying. Find a link to updates here.

HAUNTED HOUSE- WALK OF TERROR

Address: Newport News Scottish Rite, 65 Saunders Road, Newport News, VA 23601
Dates: Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in October, from the 9th through the 30th, 2026. Doors open at 6:30pm; tours run in small groups until 11pm on Saturdays and 10pm on Sundays.
Cost: $17 per person any day; active-duty military $15 per person on Sundays.
Activity: The Walk of Terror is a Halloween spectacular now in its sixth year, providing an eerie environment for those ready to be scared, never knowing what waits around each corner or in the dark. Find a link to updates here.

NORFOLK:

HAUNTED NORFOLK TOUR

Address: Moses Myers House, 323 E Freemason St, Norfolk, VA
Dates: Every Friday and Saturday from September 25 through October 31, 2026.
Booking: Tours are booked online and do sell out. Book the Haunted Norfolk Tour here.
Cost: $25 per person.
Activity: The Haunted Norfolk Tour themes are of an adult nature, and include references to ghosts, murders, suicides, and other treachery. It is at a parent’s discretion as to whether their child is mature enough for this content. 90 minute walking tour.

SPOOKY ACRES HAUNTED HOUSE

Address: Location TBA for 2026.
Dates: TBA for 2026.
Cost: $20 cash only at the door.
Activity: Walk through if you dare… We’ll scare the “yell” out of you! Portion of proceeds to benefit the March of Dimes.

GHOST TOURS OF GRANBY THEATER

Address: The Granby Theater, 421 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA 23510
Ghost Tours: Not yet announced for 2026.
Also at the Granby Theater: Murder Mystery Dinner, Friday, September 25, 2026, 6:30pm to 10pm. An interactive murder mystery dinner theater experience (ages 14+)

HAUNTED TEMPLE

Address: Masonic Temple, 7001 Granby Street Norfolk, VA 23505
Dates: Friday–Sunday, October 9-31, 2026, doors at 6:30pm.
Cost: $25.00 general admission.
Activity: Each October, the Norfolk Masonic Temple transforms into the Haunted Temple…. creepy clowns, spirits, ghosts, and undead to bring the visitor’s nightmares to life, and the state-of-the-art animatronics and special effects ram up the terror. Ages 13+. Find a link to updates here.

PORTSMOUTH:

OLDE TOWNE GHOST WALK

Address: Trinity Episcopal Church, 500 Court Street, Portsmouth, VA
Dates: Saturday, October 30, 2026; free Ghost Walk Bazaar 5-9:30pm, costumed-guide walking tours (about 60 minutes, staggered starts) along two routes.
Cost: $15 through October 15; $20 after October 15.
Activity: Ghosts of the Olde Towne Ghost Walk tell their tales of love, loss, murder and mayhem! Patrons are guided on a walking tour through the historic district of Olde Towne, Portsmouth. At each haunted house visitors hear costumed actors retell the legends of ghostly visitations and things that go bump in the night! This tour is family friendly. It’s spooky, not scary. SMITHFIELD:

TWILIGHT CEMETERY TOURS

Address: St. Luke’s Historic Church & Museum, 14477 Benns Church Blvd, Smithfield, VA 23430
2026: Friday, October 16, 2026, 6pm to 7pm.

Cost: $15 per person, children under 5 are free, in-person event.
Tour: They say “Dead men tell no tales,” but that’s not true! Come out and hear the stories of those buried in Virginia’s oldest continuous cemetery at St Luke’s Historic Church & Museum. This is NOT a ghost tour but it might get a little spooky at times.

2026: Friday, October 16, 2026 at 7pm, 8pm, and 9pm. 21+ only, valid ID required.

Cost: $30 per person.
Tour: A tasting from Sly Clyde’s Cidery of Hampton paired with an evening tour of the historic cemetery, featuring stories about notable figures buried at St Luke’s Historic Church & Museum.

SUFFOLK:

LEGENDS OF MAIN STREET: A SUFFOLK GHOST WALK

Address: Suffolk Visitor Center, 524 North Main Street, Suffolk VA 23434
Dates: Saturday, October 24 at 7pm; Friday, October 30 at 7pm; Saturday, November 7 at 6pm.
Cost: $10 adults; $8 seniors (60+), military, and children 17 and under. Not recommended for children under 9. Reservations required: 757.514.4130.
Activity: Follow a costumed guide through the shadows of historic Suffolk discovering stories, legends and “unexplained occurrences” by lantern light.

VICTORIAN SUFFOLK: DYING TO BE THERE, A Guided Discovery of Cedar Hill Cemetery

Address: Seaboard Station Railroad Museum Parking Lot, 326 North Main Street, Suffolk, VA 23434
Dates: Saturday, September 19 at 6pm; Saturday, October 17 at 5pm; Saturday, October 24 at 5pm.
Cost: $7 adults; $5 seniors (60+), military, and children 17 and under. Reservations required: 757.514.4130.
Activity: The tour will feature Victorian-era symbolism, burial practices, funerary industries, and mourning rituals. This intriguing and educational excursion will highlight how the residents of Suffolk both lived and died in the 19th century.

SURRY:

HAUNTED BACON’S CASTLE

Address: Bacon’s Castle, 465 Bacons Castle Trail, Surry VA
2026: Legends and Lore at the Castle: An Evening Lantern Tour. October 24, 2026, with tour slots at 6pm, 6:30pm, 7pm, 7:30pm, 8pm, and 8:30pm.
Cost: $15 general admission; $12 military, senior (60+), or AAA; $10 students ages 10-18.
Activity: A 40-minute after-hours lantern tour exploring stories of a cursed family, a secret heiress, and a daring rescue by night at Virginia’s oldest brick house. Recommended for ages 10 and up. Advance tickets required; limited availability. Find a link to updates here.

VIRGINIA BEACH:

NIGHTMARE MANSION

Dates: Now open. Monday-Friday from 6pm; Saturday-Sunday from 2pm. No set closing times; hours vary with foot traffic and pre-bookings.
Cost: $16 per person, available only at the door (cash, card, or tap pay; includes taxes and fees)
Activity: One of the country’s top ten rated haunted attractions, celebrating over 30 years of screams since 1989! Walk-thru haunted house with live actors. Not recommended for kids under 10.

NEPTUNE GHOSTS

BUSCH GARDENS HOWL-O-SCREAM

Activities: Busch Gardens® Howl-O-Scream® returns this fall, taking over the entire park with five haunted houses, six terror-tories™, four sinister shows and more. Unsuspecting horrors await their victims at every turn. Plus, guests can test their thrill threshold with 10 world-class coasters at night, offering a completely different ride experience. Parental discretion is advised after 6PM, as this year’s event contains amplified scares that are not recommended for children.
Daytime, family-friendly option: Busch Gardens also runs Halloween Spooktacular on Saturdays and Sundays, September 19 through November 1, 2026, from 10am to 5pm. Kids nine and under can come in costume and trick-or-treat at stations throughout the Wild Reserve, with a hay maze, a Halloween scavenger hunt, Sesame Street character meet-and-greets and rides in the Forest of Fun. This one is not-too-spooky daytime fun and is included with park admission, so a single ticket can cover Spooktacular by day and Howl-O-Scream after 6pm. Busch Gardens is advertising dated single-day admission from $61.99 online; prices move around by date, so check before you buy.

SPOOKS AND LEGENDS HAUNTED TOURS

Dates: Tours run most nights through September and October 2026. Start times vary by tour, so check the booking calendar for the night you want.
Cost: $25 per person for most tours; the Dead of Night ghost-hunting tour is $30. Children 6 and under are free on the Ghosts, Witches and Pirates tour. The Dead of Night tour is not recommended for children under 13.

HAUNTED WILLIAMSBURG

Address: Colonial Williamsburg: Duke of Gloucester Street, Williamsburg, VA

Cost: This tour is $19
Activity: From authentic 18th-century colonial ghost stories to creepy modern-day encounters, costumed storytellers share unnerving tales on this Colonial Williamsburg walking ghost tour. The one-hour candlelit walking tour begins at the Market House and is suitable for ages eight and older. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Runs rain or shine, except in cases of severe inclement weather. Unfortunately, most of the interior spaces are not accessible to wheelchairs and scooters. Tour is not ADA accessible.

2026 Dates: Friday and Saturday nights, October 2 through October 31, 2026, alongside the farm’s daytime Pumpkin Fest.
Activity: An evening haunted attraction at Chubby’s Farm and Fest Park, running alongside the farm’s Pumpkin Fest events.
