As summer weather heats up the water turns on all over Hampton Roads. Of course you can always visit the beach for water fun, but if you have had enough of sand and surf there are a few other options for you!

Indoor Parks & Rec Community Pools in Hampton - Fort Monroe Community Center Pool and Hampton Aquatics Center are open for a variety of swim programs. Daily Admission (members): Youth $1, Adult $1.50. Daily Admission (non-members): Youth $3, Adult $3.50.

Outdoor Community Pools in Hampton - open seasonally and membership is required. 

Peninsula Town Center Fountains - open seasonally May through September for FREE summer water play for ages 0-12. Located in the Town Square of Peninsula Town Center. Don't miss Thursday FREE Imagination Play Days all summer long!


Newport News

Brittingham-Midtown Aquatics Center - pool with onsite lessons and open family swim sessions. Day Pass (NN Resident) is $3 for Youth/Senior and $4 Adults. Day Pass (Non-Resident) is $5 Youth/Senior and $6 Adults. Children 3 and under are free.

Denbigh Community Center - splash pad on site at the entrance of the community center.

Doris Miller Community Center- open seasonally (mid June through the summer) for FREE (Newport News residents). The Doris Miller Pool includes a pool area and spray play area. Zero depth beach entry with a maximum depth of five feet. The pool has geyser sprays, animal sculpture sprayers, a spray tunnel, a 9'11” tube slide, and spa jet seating area. A valid pool pass is required.




Kroc Center Hampton Roads - Kroc Center Aquatics Center includes Lap lanes, a lazy river, two-story water slide and splash zone. Included in membership. Guest/Day passes are available for $10 Youth/Senior, and $12 Adults. Children under 3 are free.

Ocean View Water Slide - Located at the OV Fishing Pier the water slide is open seasonally, daily from 11am-7pm weather permitting. Tickets can be purchased at the bait shop. Posted pricing on their website is – Weekdays $10 unlimited – Weekend/holiday $12 unlimited – Single ride $3 – 2 beach chairs & umbrella combo rental $15 a day.

Norfolk Botanical Garden- located within the WOW Children's Garden the fountains come on seasonally for summertime water play and run from April 13 – October 13, 2019. Free with Garden admission. Shoes are required.

Norfolk Parks & Recreation Indoor & Outdoor Pools - some of the locations with special water features are already listed here but this link brings you to where you can find all parks & rec pool locations!

Norview Splash Pad- Free & Open to the public at Norview Community Center - 6380 Sewells Point Road, Norfolk VA. Open to the public from 10am to 8pm everyday beginning mid-June through Labor Day.

Shoop Park Splash Pad - Water play open mid-June to mid-August. Free 

Southside Aquatics Center Indoor Swimming Pool - Indoor pool with diving board, twisty tube slide, zero depth recreation and instruction area with play structures. Facility Use ID cards: $10/year for youth, $20/year for adults, $50/year for non-Norfolk residents.

Town Point Park- Interactive water fountain is on seasonally for FREE summer water play. Beginning Memorial Day and running through Labor Day. 

Virgina Zoo- water fountains (including Fountain Plaza) within the Zoo are on seasonally for water play from 10am-4:45pm. Free with paid Zoo admission.



Cavalier Manor Pool & Portsmouth Sportsplex Pool - $1 admission. Opens for the season Memorial Day weekend. Beginning later in June the summer hours will be Tuesday-Sunday from 1-4pm. Closed on Mondays. Glass containers, food and drinks (bottled water excluded) are not permitted. Large groups are encouraged to call ahead due to limited capacity. Proper swimming attire required.

Portsmouth Splash Park- Admission is FREE. Opens for the season on Saturday, May 25, 2019 weekends only from 1-7pm. Summer hours begin June 18, 2019 and will be Tuesday-Sunday from 1-7pm & closed on Mondays. Glass containers, food and drinks (bottled water excluded) are not permitted. Large groups are encouraged to call ahead due to limited capacity. Proper swimming attire required. 



Cypress Park Pool - located at 2001 Arizona Avenue, will offer open swim hours, Tuesdays through Sundays (closed Mondays) from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Open swim is FREE and open to the public.  *New this year, all participants will be required to register and receive a pool pass to present at the Pool Office. Passes may be obtained at any of our Recreation Centers or the Administration building during regular business hours. Children must be registered by the head of the household.*  Cypress Park Pool also offers swimming lessons for youth ages 5-17, group swim times, and party rentals by pre-paid reservations.

Virginia Beach

Bow Creek Recreation Center- Indoor pool with zero depth entry, lap lanes, deep water area with slide and a children's area with slide and play features. Must be a member or purchase a day pass. Day pass prices: $9 adult, $7 youth. 

Kempsville Recreation Center - Indoor pool with zero-depth entry, six 25-meter lap lanes, two 1-meter diving boards, aqua track, leisure pool and water play components. Must be a member or purchase a day pass. Day pass prices: $9 adult, $7 youth. 

Larkspur Swim & Racquet Club - Outdoor pool (summer membership required) open to all neighborhoods. Open swim and Swim team available.

Ocean Breeze Water Park- an extensive world of water fun with play areas for the little ones and wave pools, slides and other attractions for the adults and older kids. Open for the season beginning Saturday, May 18, 2019. Paid admission. Day pass prices: $32.99 adult (ages 10 and up), $26.99 youth (ages 3-9), ages 2 and under are free. Virginia Beach Parks & Rec Pools - in addition to the water playgrounds at Bow Creek, Kempsville, and Williams Park the other recreation centers have pools that give lessons and have open swim sessions. Must be a member or purchase a day pass. Day pass prices: $9 adult, $7 youth. 

Williams Park Sprayground and Indoor Water Playground- Opens for the summer Memorial Day weekend - a water play area (sprayground outdoors, water slides/play indoors) located at the Williams Park Recreation Center. Monday-Friday from 11:30am-8pm. Saturday 9am-4:30pm. Sunday 11am-4:30pm. Must be a member or purchase a day pass. Day pass prices: $9 adult, $7 youth.



Great Wolf Lodge - Indoor water park featuring pools, rides and water slides with fun for all ages. Admission to water park included with resort stay. Admission varies by dates/package. Current Discount (if available) is posted HERE.

Water Country USA- water park with fun for all ages including the little kids. Rides, slides, entertainment and more. Paid admission, single day ticket prices start at $60. Current Discount (if available) is posted HERE.


Military Families

Joint Forces Langley-Ft Eustis Aquatic Center (open to military and civilians)- Indoor water park and pool on Ft Eustis. Saturday: 12:00 – 5:45pm. Sunday: 12:00 – 4:00pm. Daily admission rates: Active Duty $2/Retired & Dependents $3/Others $5.

Joint Forces Little Creek-Fort Story's Gator Water Park (military only)- water park open to military on the JEB Little Creek-Fort Story Base. Open May 26 through September 3, Tuesday through Sunday from 11am to 6pm. Closed Mondays. Daily admission rates: $7 daily visit for active duty/retirees/reservists/eligible family members and $9 for DoD/guests. Children younger than age three are free. Season passes are available.

Oceana's Aeropalms Water Park (military only)- water park open to military on the Oceana Naval Air Station Base. Weekends only late May to late June 11am to 5pm. Starting late June Wednesday through Monday 11am to 5pm. Call for cost for daily admission for military and for guests; ages five and younger are free. Season passes are also available.
