It is officially SUMMER and that meals summer meals provided for kids through the USDA’s Summer Feeding Program. Listed below you can find the plan for each local city (in addition to the link where we found the info so you can check for updates) for providing food to their students.

Chesapeake

SCHOOL LOCATIONS: The following summer school sites will also serve as summer meal sites as a part of our Summer Food Service program. June 30, 2025 – July 31, 2025 (Mondays-Thursdays) All sites will be closed on July 3, 2025 in observance of the July 4th holiday.

Hampton
Hampton Public Schools and Hampton Parks Recreation and Leisure Services are participating in the Summer Nutrition Program For Kids. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability or age, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals will be provided on a First Come, First Served basis.

Hampton Parks & Recreation – June 16 – August 20, 2025 – Locations for Summer Meals – All sites will be closed on Fridays, and on July 3 & 4, 2025. Meals are provided on a first come, first serve basis. Children must remain onsite while consuming their meals.

Norfolk
From Norfolk Public Schools – current 2025 location list can be found here
- Norfolk Public Schools is once again participating in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Meals will be provided to all children ages 18 and under without charge. The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is a federal USDA program.
- Children must be present to receive a meal and they must consume the meal on-site. A maximum of one breakfast and one lunch per child, per day, Mon- Fri, may be provided. While participation in NPS summer academic programs is highly encouraged for students, it is not required to receive a meal. No application, registration, or proof of identification is needed for a child to receive a meal.
- No meals are served when schools are closed in observance of holidays on June 19 and July 3 & 4.

Summer Meals Food Service Program – Portsmouth Parks & Rec
Monday – Friday (Except for Holidays) | Breakfast is served between 8am – 9am | Lunch is served between 12pm – 2pm | Available for Ages: 5 – 18 years | Information & Updates Click Here.
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) offers a free nutritious breakfast and lunch to school-age children ages 5-18, Monday – Friday at the Recreation Centers, School House Rec sites and private non-profit locations. Parents must register their child(ren) for the program. Non-congregate meals will be allowed; however, children must be present to receive meals.

Suffolk Public Library: Visitors under 18 are invited to explore, create and play daily activities and games while also enjoying a complimentary lunch at our Morgan Memorial Library. Lunch will be provided on a first come first serve basis.
- Select Weekdays: June 23, 2025 – August 15, 2025 (check calendar for exact dates). Time: 12:30pm – 1:30pm
- SPL events are free to attend and open to people of all abilities. If you or someone in your party will require accommodations in order to participate, please call 757-514-7323 and ask to speak with a manager. You do not need to be a library member in order to attend.
Virginia Beach
