Back Bay Wildlife Refuge was established in 1938 to provide and protect habitat for migratory ducks, geese, and swans. The refuge consists of over 9,200 acres of freshwater wetland, shrubland, forest, beach, and dunes and is home to hundreds of species of birds, mammals, fish, reptiles and amphibians.
