Makahiki the Sea Turtle was discovered by a local Sandbridge family late last year and was rescued by the Virginia Aquarium Stranding Response Team. She has been living, and rehabilitating for the past 6 months, at the Virginia Aquarium. She is finally ready to go back home to the Ocean!

Come out to First Landing State Park this morning (Thursday, June 14, 2012) at 11am to help see her off!

The Virginia Aquarium Stranding Response Program works out of the Virginia Aquarium and can respond quickly to assist animals in distress. To report a dead or live stranded marine mammal or sea turtle call the Virginia Aquarium Stranding Response Program 24-hour hotline at (757) 385-7575.
