Where: On the boardwalk beginning at 2nd Street, Virginia Beach VA
What: Drive your vehicle ON THE BOARDWALK through Nautical, Holiday, and Adventure Lands with a soundtrack signal playing traditional Holiday music on your vehicle’s radio. Festive fish, musical crabs, and hard-working elves – all in brightly colored lights against the moonlit Atlantic Ocean - are the stars of BayPort Credit Union Holiday Lights at the Beach. They are joined by light-up Santa and a 40-foot tall Christmas tree erected on the beach and in the beautiful parks along the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. The light display includes archways along the entire length of the spectacular light display with fish swimming overhead and spectacular light tunnels to drive through. NEWPORT NEWS CELEBRATION IN LIGHTS (NEWPORT NEWS)

What: Celebration in Lights, Virginia’s first drive-through holiday light event, opens for its 28th season on Thanksgiving night (November 26, 2020). Newport News Park will be transformed by over a million individual lights, creating animated holiday and fanciful scenes. For its 28th year, the event will add new magical trees and upgrade the entrance arch in the Santa’s Enchanted Kingdom area, add candy theme display pieces and upgrade the brightness of the bulbs in the Candyland area, add additional deer display pieces and 3D trees to the deer arch area, and upgrade the rope lighting at the event entrance. 
Cost: $12.00 per car on weeknights (Monday – Thursday), $15.00 per on weekends (Friday – Sunday), and $75.00 per bus (any night). Cash, credit cards Visa/MC, and checks made payable to the City of Newport News are accepted at the gate. Nature Nights Holiday Lights at The VLM (Newport News)

What: The Smithfield Horticultural Society has decorated lovely Hayden's Lane for the holidays. Enjoy a magical stroll along this path in downtown Smithfield to brighten your holiday season. The lane is open daily from sun up to sundown. 
 

Deck The Hall (Chesapeake) 

Dates: Saturday December 5 - Sunday, December 20, 2020 from 6-9pm Nightly
Where: Chesapeake City Hall 306 Cedar Road Chesapeake, VA (Entrance to the viewing loop is at Polly Miller Circle and Cedar Rd in front of City Hall.

What: Step into a winter wonderland at the City Center Fountain Plaza with festive decorations and dazzling lights. Every half hour (5:00 PM - 9:00 PM), enjoy a show with lights and falling "snow" set to holiday music. Be sure to take photos at the "Instagramable Moments" sites around the fountain. Hampton Holiday Wonder Walk (Hampton)

Yorktown Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony (Yorktown)

What: This community tradition goes all the way back to 1945. That's the year that Reverend Claud G. Barkley, Pastor of Yorktown Baptist Church, and staff from the County Clerk's Office decorated a cedar tree that stood at the corner of Main and Ballard Streets. The York County Historical Committee works hard to keep this ritual going year after year. The tree that is used today is a 20-foot artificial commercial "Giant Everest Fir" placed at Riverwalk Landing. There will be a brief program at the Yorktown Waterfront at 7:30, followed by the Tree Lighting and a special virtual message from Santa Claus! Drop off pre-made cards for our Military and First Responders (Cards for Heroes) nearby in the Freight Shed. Please note, there will be no programming or procession this year at Victory Monument.

Holiday Tree Lighting at the Marketplace (Chesapeake)

Pleasant Rd. and Centerville Turnpike in Chesapeake as they are pleased to announce its Inaugural “Holiday Tree Lighting at the Marketplace“, Saturday, November 30 at 4:30 p.m. Look for the very tall tree and Polar Express cut out at the greenspace near AJ Gators and the Centerville Animal Hospital. Join in with some caroling as well. The tree will be lit at 4:55 p.m. Get into the holiday spirit and bring your friends or family to capture some tis the season photos with the eight-person Polar Express cut out near the 22’ ft. tree. The Cavalier Grand Illumination (Virginia Beach)

What: We will be hosting our annual Grand Illumination on December 1st from 5-8 PM, From 5PM until the lights go on, enjoy Santa and Mrs. Claus, carolers, complimentary hot chocolate, spiced wine and cookies, and a special appearance by The Richmond Ballet, the State Ballet of Virginia. A special reception in The Raleigh Room will follow. Come see our hotel and Cavalier residences light up for the holidays — children of all ages are welcome! Open to the public - this is a free event!

 

CBN Christmas Village (Virginia Beach)

What: As current circumstances have forced everyone to make adjustments to lives, schedules, and expectations, so too we have found it necessary to adjust. Regrettably, CBN will not be able to offer Christmas Village to our communities and region this year.

FOUNDERS INN ANNUAL ILLUMINATION (Virginia Beach)

What: Start the Holiday Season Off Right by Attending Founders Annual Illumination Event! Activities to include: Puppet Caravan Cultural Dancers Christmas Choirs in the Atrium Pictures with Santa Strolling Entertainment Face-Painting and Balloon Artistry Horse-drawn Carriage (weather permitting) At 6:00 pm, don't miss a reading of "The Christmas Story" followed by the "Illumination" of the English Gardens This event is one you won't want to miss and is fun for the whole family! Free and Open to the public.

Grand Illumination at Lynnhaven Mall (Virginia Beach)

What: Bring the whole family to Lynnhaven Mall for one of Hampton Roads beloved annual holiday traditions - the Grand Illumination.

YORKTOWN LIGHTED BOAT PARADE (Yorktown)

Where: Yorktown, VA Waterfront
What: Join us at the Yorktown Waterfront from 6-8 p.m. Pre-parade festivities start at 6 and include caroling around a beach bonfire, a musical performance by the Fifes & Drums of York Town, and complimentary hot cider. The boats will finish out the evening, as they make their way down the river in a dazzling show of lights that starts at 7 p.m. This annual event has been a community tradition for more than two decades, and brings neighbors together to celebrate the season. Some of the boats take almost 20 hours to decorate! As an added safety precaution, families are encouraged to bring flashlights to assist in navigation around town at night. No rain dates are scheduled for the holiday weekend events. In the event weather conditions pose a threat, please call the York County event weather hotline for the most current information at 757.890.3520. This event is sponsored by the Yorktown Lighted Boat Parade Committee.

2020 Fallen Hero's Tree

Where: Now located on Main Street in front of the fire station), Buchanan, VA. The tree will be lit in late November and stay lit until January 2021. 
What: Each ornament on the tree has the name of a firefighter or police officer who died in the line of duty in 2020. Everyone is welcome.
 

Christmas on Mansion Cross

Dates: November 30-December 28, 2019. Sunday-Thursday 5:30-9pm and Friday-Saturday 5:30-10:30pm 
Where: Mansion Cross Lane, Virginia Beach across from Hunt Club Farm
What: Over 50,000 lights on display, all synched to music. All donations will benefit St Jude Children's Research Hospital
 

Holt Family Lights

What: The Grand Illumination of the Holt Family Lights Christmas display is Friday, November 20th. It will run nightly, exact times to come, so stay tuned. There will be no character nights this year, but we hope you all can come and enjoy the lights and inflatables and music and help us spread Christmas cheer
