The Lights of Christmas (Virginia Beach)

Dates: November 6 - December 31, 2020 from 5pm-Midnight
Where: 101 KOA Lane, Virginia Beach VA 23451
What: The Lights of Christmas is a drive-thru experience the whole family can enjoy! With a synchronized display of hundreds of thousands of lights, the dance and move to a 30 min soundtrack that you listen on your car's radio while driving through this elaborate show of Christmas cheer! Located at the KOA Holiday of Virginia Beach, VA.
Cost: $25 a carload! Military and Police are $20 


Dates: November 13, 2020 - January 2, 2021.
Where: Norfolk Botanical Garden, 6700 Azalea Garden Rd., Norfolk, VA 
What: Enjoy a festive and healthy way to kick off the holidays. Drive through 2 miles of spectacular lighted displays.
  • Value Nights (most Sundays-Thursdays) will be $25/car for members and $35/car for Not-Yet-Members
  • Premium Nights (Fridays & Saturdays and Christmas week) will be $30/car for members, and $40/car for Not-Yet-Members

What: Drive your vehicle ON THE BOARDWALK through Nautical, Holiday, and Adventure Lands with a soundtrack signal playing traditional Holiday music on your vehicle’s radio. Festive fish, musical crabs, and hard-working elves – all in brightly colored lights against the moonlit Atlantic Ocean - are the stars of BayPort Credit Union Holiday Lights at the Beach. They are joined by light-up Santa and a 40-foot tall Christmas tree erected on the beach and in the beautiful parks along the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. The light display includes archways along the entire length of the spectacular light display with fish swimming overhead and spectacular light tunnels to drive through. Military tributes to the region's strong Armed Forces community are featured prominently throughout the display.

Christmas Celebration at Busch Gardens (Williamsburg)

Dates: Opening Day for Christmas Celebration is November 14, 2020 and the festivities are open select dates until January 3, 2020.
Where: Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Williamsburg VA

What: The world’s most beautiful theme park is one of the largest Christmas light displays in North America. Festive food and drink, holiday shopping and heart-warming shows make the spirit of the season come alive. 
Cost: Timed tickets are available for specific dates. Cost is $39.99 - $59.99. Families with a Current Membership, a Current Preschool Pass, Military Pass and previously purchased Busch Gardens Williamsburg 1-Day Tickets need to make a reservation for a specific day/time to use their pass.

Festival of Lights at Sleepy Hole Park (Suffolk)

Dates: November 20th at 5:30 PM through December 30, 2020 at 9:30 PM

What: The display will be closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. 
The inaugural Suffolk Festival of Lights will display over 35,000 bulbs. The drive-through holiday light display is free.

WinterFest On The Wisconsin (Norfolk)

Dancing Northern Lights Tree (Virginia Beach)

Dates: November 26 – December 31, 2020. Nightly at 6 PM, 7 PM, 8 PM and 9 PM.

Snow Globe Spectacular (Virginia Beach)

Dates: November 26 – December 31, 2020. The live snow globe entertainment takes place on the hour, immediately following the Holiday Tree Light Show, every weekend in December: Friday’s: 6 PM, 7 PM, 8 PM, 9 PM, Saturday’s: 6 PM, 7 PM, 8 PM, 9 PM, Sunday’s: 6 PM, 7 PM, 8 PM, 9 PM.
All Around Town Center, Virginia Beach VA
Visit the amazing life-size snow globes filled with artistic, unique, creative, and sometimes whimsical Christmas Tree scenes. Be mesmerized and entertained each weekend in December by dancing ballerinas, playful elves, marching toy soldiers, and frosty royal musicians performing live inside these magical globes. 


Dates: November 26, 2020 - January 1, 2021. The event will be open each evening, 5:30 - 10pm
Where: Newport News Park at the intersection of Ft. Eustis Blvd. and Jefferson Ave. in Newport News, VA
What: Celebration in Lights, Virginia’s first drive-through holiday light event, opens for its 28th season on Thanksgiving night (November 26, 2020). Newport News Park will be transformed by over a million individual lights, creating animated holiday and fanciful scenes. For its 28th year, the event will add new magical trees and upgrade the entrance arch in the Santa’s Enchanted Kingdom area, add candy theme display pieces and upgrade the brightness of the bulbs in the Candyland area, add additional deer display pieces and 3D trees to the deer arch area, and upgrade the rope lighting at the event entrance. 
Cost: $12.00 per car on weeknights (Monday – Thursday), $15.00 per on weekends (Friday – Sunday), and $75.00 per bus (any night). Cash, credit cards Visa/MC, and checks made payable to the City of Newport News are accepted at the gate. Advance purchase tickets, at $10.00 per car (good any night), may be purchased (cash or credit card) at the Newport News Visitor Center at Newport News Park (coming soon).


Nature Nights Holiday Lights at The VLM (Newport News)

Dates: November 27, 28 and 29. December 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 20, 26, 27 and January 2, 2021. Time: 5:30pm-8:30pm (extended evening hours)
Where: The Virginia Living Museum 524 J. Clyde Morris Blvd. Newport News, VA 23601
What: Enter an outdoor trail glittering with lights and holiday spirit. Take a nature walk on the outdoor trail and through the Dinosaur Discovery Trail village!  This new experience is right in time for the holidays and is sure to put you and your family in the holiday spirit. Receive a candy cane treat, cookies and cocoa. ADD your own Glow! Light up toys and wearables available for purchase. Credit card only. NOTE: all COVID-19 CDC recommendations will be enforced – social distancing observed on trail.
Cost: (Timed tickets will go on sale Thursday, Nov. 5) VLM Members $9/ Non-Members $12 – ages 2 and under are free. 


Illuminating Hayden's Lane (Smithfield)

Dates: November 30 - January 3, 2020.
Where: 200th Block Of Main Street Smithfield, VA 23430
What: The Smithfield Horticultural Society has decorated lovely Hayden's Lane for the holidays. Enjoy a magical stroll along this path in downtown Smithfield to brighten your holiday season. The lane is open daily from sun up to sundown. 

Deck The Hall (Chesapeake) 

Dates: Saturday December 5 - Sunday, December 20, 2020 from 6-9pm Nightly
Where: Chesapeake City Hall 306 Cedar Road Chesapeake, VA (Entrance to the viewing loop is at Polly Miller Circle and Cedar Rd in front of City Hall.
What: Drive through to see a FREE light display by PYROTECNICO. Enjoy festive, holiday scenes projected on the biggest screen around! Show repeats every 3 minutes.  



Dates: Nightly light show, December 5, 2020 - January 1, 2021 from 5 – 9pm. 
Where: City Center at Oyster Point, Newport News VA
What: Step into a winter wonderland at the City Center Fountain Plaza with festive decorations and dazzling lights. Every half hour (5:00 PM - 9:00 PM), enjoy a show with lights and falling "snow" set to holiday music. Be sure to take photos at the "Instagramable Moments" sites around the fountain. Free Admission.

Holiday Lights & Music Display (Portsmouth)

Dates: December 5, 2020 - January 2, 2021 from 6pm-12am
Where: Historic Cradock - Afton Square, Afton Parkway, Portsmouth VA

Christmas In The Country 2020 (Chesapeake)

Dates: December 10-31, 2020
Where: Triple R Ranch 3531 Bunch Walnuts Rd, Chesapeake, VA 23322
What: Come celebrate Christmas with Triple R Ranch and see the ranch aglow with lights! **THIS EVENT IS DRIVE-THRU ONLY*** Fundraiser barbecue meals will be available for purchase on the following nights at 4:30-7:30pm: December 10, 11, 12 and 17, 18, and 19. We welcome folks to come anytime between December 10th and 31st to enjoy our evening spectacle of lights as a drive-thru tour.
Cost: There are no tickets or costs to come. Instead, we strongly welcome encourage your donations and support to help sustain Triple R Ranch

Hampton Holiday Wonder Walk (Hampton)

Dates: December 12-23, 2020 from 5-9pm 
Where: Hampton Coliseum and Air Power Park, Hampton VA
What: Take a pleasant stroll on 2.25 miles of a socially-distanced, glow-lighted trail with a few animated features along the way. Entrances and parking at Hampton Coliseum and Air Power Park. $4 per person, Children ages 6 & under are free. 



Single Day Events



Date: November 20, 2020 at 6pm
Where: Online via the City of Suffolk YouTube channel 
What: Tune into the City of Suffolk YouTube channel to view the beginning of the holiday season in Suffolk. This event will display the lighting of our 32 foot holiday tree! We will feature the Mayor and a Hand Bell choir performance to celebrate the occasion. This video will appear live on November 20, 2020 at 6:00 PM.

Grand Illumination EVENT (Norfolk)

Date: Saturday, November 21, 2020 from 4-7pm
Where: Downtown Norfolk VA
What: While we are not able to produce our traditional Grand Illumination Parade this year, we will still kick-off the holiday season in Downtown Norfolk with the illumination of the skyline and other mini-activations throughout the evening including: Unveiling of new holiday art installation in the NEON District, Model Train Exhibit in Selden Market, Socially-distanced Santa photo op, Performances by The Rhythm Project, and other outdoor music and entertainment Snowfall on Granby. 


Holiday Light Stroll "Roll" Drive-Thru Benefit (Newport News)

Dates: Tuesday, November 24, 2020. The event will be open for this preview event from 5:30 - 8:30pm Where: Newport News Park at the intersection of Ft. Eustis Blvd. and Jefferson Ave. in Newport News, VA
What: Holiday Light Stroll 2020 (ROLL) presented by Langley Federal Credit Union. Due to COVID-19 pre-cautions, this year's normal walk/stroll will be a DRIVE THRU ONLY. We are unable to do our normal walk/stroll through the lights due to Covid-19 restrictions. We hope you will still join us for this most important fundraising for the Center for Child & Family Services program and services. You will be driving thru with your own CAR. A pre-purchased ticket is required. One ticket is valid for one (1) car/van per ticket.

What: The 2020 Port Warwick Holiday Tree Lighting will be on Saturday, November 28th with the time to be determined. It will be a little different this year as we will be following guidelines to keep everyone safe. Check link for updates!

Military: Little Creek - Holiday Concert & Tree Lighting
 (Virginia Beach)

Date: Friday, December 4, 2020 at 7pm
Where: JEB Little Creek, Gator Theater, 3504 Gator Blvd. Bldg. 3104 Virginia Beach, VA 23459
What: Join JEB Little Creek MWR for its annual Holiday Tree Lighting & Concert on Friday, December 4 at Gator Theater. This year's lineup of physical distancing activities and celebrations include an outdoor tree lighting ceremony, an appearance from Santa and a U.S. Fleet Forces Band Holiday Concert. You must have base access to attend this event. 


Yorktown Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony (Yorktown)

Date: Friday, December 4, 2020 at 7:30pm
Where: Yorktown Victory Monument 331 Water Street Yorktown, VA 23690
What: This community tradition goes all the way back to 1945. That's the year that Reverend Claud G. Barkley, Pastor of Yorktown Baptist Church, and staff from the County Clerk's Office decorated a cedar tree that stood at the corner of Main and Ballard Streets. The York County Historical Committee works hard to keep this ritual going year after year. The tree that is used today is a 20-foot artificial commercial "Giant Everest Fir" placed at Riverwalk Landing. There will be a brief program at the Yorktown Waterfront at 7:30, followed by the Tree Lighting and a special virtual message from Santa Claus! Drop off pre-made cards for our Military and First Responders (Cards for Heroes) nearby in the Freight Shed. Please note, there will be no programming or procession this year at Victory Monument.

Lynnhaven Inlet Christmas Lights by Boat (Virginia Beach)

Date: December 19, 2020 at 5pm
Where: Lynnhaven Inlet Virginia Beach, VA 23451
What: The worlds a little crazy right now.  Seems every tradition and holiday is being canceled.   Let’s put our own twist on the holidays this year.  Calling all homeowners along the Lynnhaven inlet and broad bay and boat owners, let’s decorate our boats, docks, and homes. Let’s round up our family and friends, and show off our holiday cheer in a time it’s so desperately needed.
Please note: This is not formatted like a parade or mass gathering at one point.  Let’s take to the water at sundown for holiday cheer.  Please make sure you dress for the weather and have all safety gear including lights in accordance with all rules and regulations. SPOTLIGHTS ARE TO BE USED FOR DOCKING AND EMERGENCY ONLY. 




Neighborhood Light Displays


2020 Fallen Hero's Tree

Dates: See link for 2020 updates
Where: Now located on Main Street in front of the fire station), Buchanan, VA. The tree will be lit in late November and stay lit until January 2021. 
What: Each ornament on the tree has the name of a firefighter or police officer who died in the line of duty in 2020. Everyone is welcome.

Christmas on Mansion Cross

Dates: Sunday-Thursday, 5:30-9, and Friday-Saturday, 5:30-10:30, every night from November 27th through December 30th, 2020
Where: Mansion Cross Lane, Virginia Beach across from Hunt Club Farm
What: Over 60,000 lights on display, all synced up to music! The show will run The show this year has 5 songs that include Into The Unknown from Frozen 2, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays by NSYNC, The Grinch by Lindsay Sterling, Candy Cane Lane by Sia, and Underneath the Tree by Kelly Clarkson. We also have a donation box under the streetlight again this year where the donations go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We hope you can make it out to see the show this year.

Dances Bay Christmas Lights

Dates: Our lights are on seven days a week 5-10pm
Where: 100 block of Dances Bay Road, Elizabeth City NC 27909
What: We feature over 15 houses of lights in our neighborhood that decorate there homes and yards and then  three houses side-by-side that really go all out with almost 1 million lights between the whole neighborhood. This is a drive-through display in which you just drive through the neighborhood to see the homes, as well we have a pull-off area for you to pull off and get out of your vehicle to walk through certain designated walkways that will take you throughout the yards for photo opportunities. Due to the coronavirus, we have restrictions on mask and social distancing when exiting your vehicle to walk through our display.  

Holiday Smiles by The Miller's

Holt Family Lights

What: The Grand Illumination of the Holt Family Lights Christmas display is Friday, November 20th. It will run nightly, exact times to come, so stay tuned. There will be no character nights this year, but we hope you all can come and enjoy the lights and inflatables and music and help us spread Christmas cheer
