Norfolk Emerging Leaders Program

A great program for teens and young adults in Norfolk! The Norfolk Emerging Leaders (NEL) program provides teens ages 16-19 (as well as college and graduate students) with paid summer employment opportunities.

Description from the City of Norfolk website:

The Norfolk Emerging Leaders Program is designed to provide Norfolk youth between the ages of 16-21 with meaningful summer employment that develops job skills and knowledge in a rewarding work environment.  NEL participants have an opportunity to explore public service careers in local government through job assignments within City departments.  Participants gain valuable hands-on work experience and take part in work readiness and financial planning workshops to acquire essential employability skills necessary for success in future careers.  

This is a full-time position requiring the availability to work 40 hours per week.  Work hours, work days, and work schedules may vary based on NEL participants’ program assignments.
