Military Summer Reading Programs

Summer Reading Programs are starting soon at your local Military Libraries!

Plant A Seed, Read is the theme for the DoD-MWR Libraries 2026 summer reading program! These programs are open to Military and DOD dependents. Find the summer reading on ANY military installation on this link: www.beanstack.com/dod.

DoD Summer Reading 2026

The physical MWR Library locations in Hampton Roads (and their summer reading information) are listed below:

The Bateman Library on Langley Air Force Base will host the Summer Reading Program from June 5 to July 31, 2026. Register, log you rminutes and win fantastic prizes! Squadrons, register as a group to compete in our 6th Annual Squadron Reading Challenge!
    • Call the library at (757) 764-2906 or visit their Website for more information. Sign up anytime at: batemanlibrary.beanstack.org
    • This includes Pre-K (0-4) Parents also get credit for reading to their children!  The other categories are Children (5-12), Teens (13-17) and Adults (18+).

Groninger Library will host their summer reading program June 15th – August 31st, 2026.
  • Visit their Facebook page or go directly to their Summer Reading Page for more information and to sign up.
  • Register today and pick up your summer reading swag bag.
JEB Little Creek Library & Fort Story Library will run their Summer Reading Program together from June 15 – August 31, 2026.
Not near a base library?
If you are not near a base library, you can participate in the DoD-MWR Virtual Summer Reading Program. This online program is designed for Guard, Reserve, and Active Duty children and teens who don’t live near military bases and runs from May 25 to September 7, 2026.
