Hampton Roads: Summer Reading Programs 2026

The 2026 nationwide summer reading theme is “Unearth a Story” – a celebration of dinosaurs, archaeology, paleontology, and the hidden stories that books help us discover. Most Hampton Roads libraries are running with the theme this summer.
Please note that most of these Summer Reading Programs require you to sign up to participate. Make sure you sign up at the beginning of the summer to log all of your 2026 summer reading!
In addition to the reading logs and prizes, many of the area libraries (and many bookstores) will be having special events and activities throughout the summer. Make sure to check out the great variety of local talent and entertainment!
