131st Annual Memorial Day Parade (Portsmouth)

Description: A Portsmouth tradition since 1884. This year’s parade will include floats, marching band units, armed forces units, lots of excitement and much more.

Come Sea History (Portsmouth)

Description: Join in on Civil War period U.S. Navy living history displays and demonstrations with the Tidewater Maritime Living History Association. Chat with historian and Naval Shipyard archivist Marcus Robbins about his collection of Norfolk Naval Shipyard ephemera and memorabilia.

Memorial Day Weekend Summer Kickoff At First Landing State Park (Virginia Beach)

Memorial Day Ceremony (Virginia Beach)
Date: Monday, May 25, 2015 at 12:00pm
Description: This event is free and open to the public. Military personnel, their families and all citizens are invited to participate. Citizens who would like to place an American flag (provided) around the base of the memorial are encouraged to arrive before the ceremony. The flags will remain in place for one week.  
Location: Tidewater Veterans Memorial Park, Jefferson Ave. and 19th Street, across from the convention center, Virginia Beach, Virginia 
 


YORKTOWN

 
Civil War Weekend (Yorktown)
Dates: Saturday & Sunday, May 23 & 24, 2015 from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Description: Tactical demonstrations, encampments, and a Confederate field hospital interpret the role Yorktown played during the 1862 Peninsula Campaign. On Sunday, special Memorial ceremonies will take place at the Yorktown National Cemetery and Confederate Cemetery.

Memorial Day Ceremony at York Hall (Yorktown)
Date: Monday, May 25, 2015 at 12:00pm
Description:  Includes the posting of colors, historical re-enactors, a guest speaker, and the placing of flowers.
