Make A Scarecrow To Support CHKD

When: Saturday & Sunday, September 12-13, 2026 from 9am-4pm, RAIN OR SHINE

Where: McDonald Garden Center, 1144 Independence Boulevard, Virginia Beach VA 23455

Cost: $30, includes instructions and all supplies. Of each purchase, $25 benefits CHKD and supports their work to improve children’s health in our community. Register online or in stores. Walk-ins are welcome, while supplies last.

Description: McDonald Garden Center is bringing back the 30th annual Make a Scarecrow event for 2026! Join them, rain or shine, September 12-13, 2026 from 9am to 4pm at the Independence Blvd. location. Bring the family and build your very own custom, life-size scarecrow. Your purchase includes everything you need to make one scarecrow (stake, wheat straw, a collection of clothes, and accessories), and you are welcome to bring your own extras to personalize it.

McDonald Garden Center, partnered with The King’s Daughters, the founding organization of Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD), has raised more than $400,000 through this charitable event.
