Featured Camp: Summer Camp at the YMCA!
Day camp, golf camp, overnight camp… this summer is bursting with opportunities for kids to return to the normalcy offered by summer camps at the YMCA! It has been a tough year for everyone, and kids all over Hampton Roads are ready to see their friends, make new friends, and get back to the important job of summer fun.
The YMCA of South Hampton Roads offers programs for kids ages 4-16, here is an overview of available camps for Summer 2021!
Camp Silver Beach is usually SOLD OUT by February and because the YMCA wasn’t sure if they could have camp, there are a few spots available – most in the first and last weeks of camp. Camp Silver Beach really is a life-changing experience for children!!
Description: With loads of activities packed on 151 beautiful acres of forest, field and wetlands, and 1,200 feet of pristine Chesapeake Bay beachfront, Camp Silver Beach (ages 8-16) provides opportunities for campers to build confidence, learn sportsmanship, find potential, grow friendships and develop a healthy sense of independence. Lessons about respect and honesty come packaged in water adventures, woodland walks, and campfire sing-a-longs. The camp maintains a 4-to-1 camper-to-staff ratio with counselors who are highly trained, positive, and enthusiastic role models.
YMCA members save $100/session on summer camp. Sibling/buddy discounts are also available.

CREATING LIFELONG MEMORIES
Camp is full of fun, friendship and discovery. Children develop strong relationships while enjoying activities like swimming, crafts, sports and more. Day camp is offered in YMCAs, and at regional outdoor camps—YMCA at JT’s Camp Grom, YMCA Camp Arrowhead, YMCA Camp Red Feather. Golf Camp is also available through First Tee — Hampton Roads in Virginia Beach.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT DAY CAMP –
In day camp at the Y, kids ages 4 to 17 will enjoy a summer full of nature, water fun, games, field trips, sports, arts & crafts, and new friendships. Weekly themes allow your child to make new discoveries and explore activities of interest such as a variety of sports, art, theater, music, science and more.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CAMPS – (Camp Arrowhead, Camp Red Feather)
YMCA Camp Arrowhead in Suffolk is all about discovery and outdoor fun. Kids and teens explore nature, find new talents, try new activities like archery and riflery, or climb the Alpine Tower, gain independence and make lasting memories through participation in crafts, swimming, sports and more. Kids become a community as they learn both how to contribute to a group while engaging in physical, social and educational activities.
YMCA Camp Red Feather in Norfolk offers youth and teens (ages 5-17) a safe and exciting outdoor summer adventure that includes archery, fishing, boating, kayaking and more! Children will learn life skills, create memories and form friendships through a variety of activities on 40 acres of fields and forests on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan College.
EXPLORE GOLF CAMP
The First Tee of Hampton Roads offers summer golf camps beginning in June! Our camps are the ultimate golf experience—youth learn new golf skills and valuable life skills, have fun through creative games, and get the opportunity to make new friends. To minimize summer learning loss and to help children improve, we also incorporate STEM education in camps for ages 8 and up.
CAMP GROM FOR everyBODY –
At YMCA at JT’s Camp Grom in Virginia Beach, children and teens will learn life skills, create memories and form friendships through a variety of activities including cable wakeboarding, climbing towers, kayaks, fishing and more. YMCA at JT’s Camp Grom’s unique adaptive and integrated activities provide access for campers of all abilities. Camp options are available for ages 5–15.
