Dorothy and all her friends from The Wizard of Oz are landing this month at The Children’s Museum of Virginia! This interactive exhibit is in town for a limited time (July 26 – September 13) and provides opportunities for children to play games and explore different aspects of the story including

– Help put the scarecrow back together
– Build the road to the Emerald City
– Look through the special Oz spectacles that let you see the City of Oz in GREEN
– Perform scenes from the book
– Help build the Wicked Witch’s castle and save yourself from the Winged Monkeys

– and much more.

As kids work their way through the exhibit it combines storytelling with art, science, math and history stimulating learning through creativity, play, and exploration.

There will also be special visits and performances from The Children’s Theatre of Hampton Roads, Via Goode, The Hurrah Players among others. On opening weekend (July 26-27, 2014) children can also meet Dorothy and The Wicked Witch!
