Public Arts Festival: Fantastic Planet at ODU (Free Event)

Fantastic Planet at the Barry Art Museum

Don’t miss the family-friendly festival, Fantastic Planet, hosted by ODU this October! After illuminating campus with a giant model of the moon two years ago, and blasting off to Mars last year, this annual arts festival is back for its third year in 2023 with Fantastic Plant.

Where: 43rd Street between Hampton Boulevard and Monarch Way outside the Barry Art Museum, Norfolk VA

When:  Friday-Sunday, October 13-15, 2023 from 6-10pm

Cost: The festival is free and open to the public

Description: Over three nights, the campus will be transformed by the presence of otherworldly figures, inviting us to reflect on our relationship with the natural world and our responsibility to preserve it for future generations. Inspired by the film of the same name, this playful and immersive series of artworks carries an underlying message of stewardship, environmentalism, and our role on this fantastic planet.

With over 30 partners from across Old Dominion University and around the region, the festival will offer a comprehensive lineup of live performances and activities which includes three distinct zones: the Environmental Corridor, Planet Steam, and Fantastic Festivities. Each of these zones provides a different focus on the overall theme of environmental stewardship.
