Operation Backpack 2012

If you are looking for a way to give back to as we head towards the school year I wanted to let you know about Operation Backpack 2012, a program of Volunteers of America- Chesapeake.

A description of the program from the VOA- Operation Backback Webpage:

Thousands of children live in Maryland, Washington, DC and Virginia’s homeless and domestic violence shelters. One of the most devastating consequences of homelessness is the impact it has on a child’s education. Homeless children are more likely to have behavioral issues which ultimately may lead to higher dropout rates. These children need school supplies and supportive services for the upcoming school year. You can help!

There are 2 Hampton Roads locations where you can drop of backpacks full of school supplies. For the locations in Norfolk and Virginia Beach click HERE.

For a list of needed school supplies by age/grade click HERE.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!
