Upcoming Homeschool Learning Opportunities in Hampton Roads:

Homeschool Day- Science Stations at Norfolk Botanical Garden on March 21, 2012 from 10am-1pm

Bring your family and visit science learning stations at your own pace. Each station is a different science related topic lead by a Garden Educator.

Homeschool days are designed for students ages 5-10 or those working on elementary-level coursework. A complementary adult admission is included with each paid student admission. Adults must stay with their youngest students while exploring the garden activities.

A list of Activity Stations can be found HERE. Pre-registration is required. Cost/parent & child: $10 ($8 for NBG Members) $6 each additional sibling

TITANIC Day on Friday, April 13, 2012 - Students will have the opportunity to interact with costumed actors, make craft projects and play games true to the time period, as well as participate in interactive programming around the sinking of the Titanic in 1912. Cost is $10 each.

Homeschool Day at Virginia Aquarium - January 20, 2012 from 10am-5pm

Morning programs focus on Wonderous Wetlands - Interactive Stations. Afternoon programs are about Marsh Animals with live animal presentations. Prices are: Ages 2 and under (Free). Ages 2-18 ($8 for Aquarium, $12 for Aquarium & IMAX), Adults ($10 for Aquarium, $14 for Aquarium & IMAX). IMAX Showings will be Born To Be Wild at 10:15am/12:45pm and Wild Ocean at 11:30am/2pm. Call guest services at (757) 385-0300 to reserve your space, walk-ups are welcome.

Homeschool Open House at Virginia MOCA - January 30th, 10am-Noon

Homeschool families are invited to drop by MOCA for a morning of educational FUN! Explore the exhibitions with MOCA gallery teachers, meet and observe outreach educators in action teaching science and art programs and create art in the studios with MOCA educators. Learn more about the range of programming for homeschool groups here at the museum. Free and open to the public.

Homeschool Day at Battleship Wisconsin & Nauticus - February 2, 2012 from 10am-5pm

Colonial Williamsburg Homeschool Experience - February 11-26 and September 8-23, 2012

Colonial Williamsburg designates several weeks each year as Homeschooler Experiences. These experiences include activities and programming throughout the Historic Area, and special programs scheduled for homeschool participants including a variety of hands-on opportunities. Special rates are available during this period for homeschoolers and these events are open to groups or individuals.

Annual Homeschool Day at Virginia Living Museum - February 29, 2012

The Museum offers Homeschool families extra deep discounted rates for this one-day-only program. Natural science and planetarium programs are $9.75 per child and include a free visit to the museum. The environmental science lab is $11.75 per child and also includes a free visit to the museum. Museum member parents are free. Non-member adults are $12. Parents may accompany children into the programs at no additional charge.
A self-guided museum visit only is $12 for adults and $7 per child and free for Museum members. Advance registration is required. The deadline for registration is at noon on Tuesday, February 28, 2012. Call 757-595-9135 for information and to register or complete the online form. Free curriculum support materials will be provided when registered for classroom programs

Mariners' Museum Homeschool Events - March 9 & April 13, 2012 - View Flyer HERE

Civil War Living History Day on Friday, March 9, 2012 - Civil War history will come to life for students with events focusing on the historical Battle between the Ironclad Battleships USS MONITOR and CSS VIRGINIA. This interactive day allows students to meet and speak to costumed soldiers and sailors, tour the USS MONITOR, make craft projects and play games true to the time period, and participate in interactive programming! Cost is $10 each for ages 5+.
