Homeschool Day at Nauticus (Norfolk) - Wednesday, February 20,2019 from 10am-5pm

Throughout the day, lively education programs will cover a range of science lessons, ranging from water properties to Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs). Homeschoolers can also explore the Battleship Wisconsin and watch 3D movies, Oceans: Our Blue Planet and Aircraft Carrier, in the Nauticus Theater. Admission to Homeschool Day is just $7.57 per adult or child ages 4 -17 since it being offered during Nauticus’ 757 Admissions special running through February 28. Homeschool Days at NASA Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center (Wallops Island) - January 18 & February 22,2019 from 9:30am-12pm.

Homeschool Science Fair (Norfolk) - Friday, February 22,2019 from 12-5pm

Slover Library in Norfolk - Hampton Roads Homeschoolers, comejoin in the K-12 Homeschool Science Fair at Slover Library! Homeschoolers can display and present their science fair experiments to judges. Prizes will be awarded. Students must demonstrate their understanding of the scientific method. They should have a hypothesis, a well-designed experiment and show their results. Onlineregistrationdue by January 22nd!

During these special times, homeschoolers and their families can enjoy hands-on activities and revolutionary experiences designed to make history come alive in a way that is educational and interactive. Make the most of your experience by participating in one or more of the available programs designed specifically for homeschool families. Homeschool Days at Historic Jamestowne (Jamestown) - SPRING 2019 HOMESCHOOL DAYS February 23 - March 3, 2019

From February 23 through March 3, Historic Jamestowne will feature kids’ activities perfect for home educators. Embark on a scavenger hunt around James Fort and meet some of the people who called Virginia their home in the 17th century. Best of all, these activities are included with any Historic Jamestowne admission ticket and children 15 and under are always free! 


Homeschool Days at The Virginia Living Museum (Newport News) -  March 1, 2019

The Virginia Living Museum offers homeschool students grades K through 12 a day of fun and engaging programs that highlight important natural and space science concepts. Programs are available for grades K-4. A lab about pond life is available for grades 5-12. All programs are curriculum and grade-level targeted and taught by the museum’s professional educators. All programs include a self-guided visit of museum exhibits and are offered at a discount to homeschool families.

Farmers Market VB Homeschool Morning (Virginia Beach) - March 29, 2019 from 10am-12pm 

Join homeschooling families across the area for a Virginia Beach Homeschool morning at the Farmers Market! This is a fun and interactive tour designed for preschool through 5th grades. There will be learning in the Rural Heritage Center, a tour of the Virginia Beach Farmers Market, and a snack at the end of the day. Cost: $7 cash per child / Parents are free

Homeschool Days at Norfolk Botanical Garden (Norfolk) - Mondays April 1, 8 & 15, 2019 from 10-11am

Join us for lessons in the best classroom – nature! Programs recommended for children ages 5-9 with caregiver participation. Price for NBG Members: $10/child/class (adult members may attend for free). Price for Not-yet Members: $15/person (tickets for class must be purchased for both children and adults and includes all-day NBG Admission) All participants ages 3+ must register.


Homeschool Program - Marine Science Adventure (Wallops Island) - April 1-3, 2019 and September 11-13, 2019

Ages 9+ with adult chaperone. Enjoy some coastal exploration time on the beautiful barrier islands of the Eastern Shore! During the Marine Science Adventure, students will observe the physical and chemical properties of the Chincoteague Bay aboard one of our research vessels, seine for invertebrates in the intertidal zone, and explore the life hidden inside the marsh. This combination of hands-on observation of marine environments and life forms and time to socialize with other young marine biologists will make for some of the most memorable homeschool experiences for your family yet!

Military Homeschool Groups Throughout Hampton Roads (Hampton Roads)

This group meets twice monthly at September-May at several local military installations. Ages 3-17. Free registration. Contact your local school resource officer to confirm times/locations.



Homeschool Art Programs

Homeschool Art - MOCArt Studio (ages 6-12)
 (Virginia Beach)

Homeschooled students will dive into art by creating their own masterpieces, experimenting with materials, discussing artwork, and experiencing MOCA exhibits! Young artists explore and create using drawing, painting and mixed media techniques and materials such as pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, watercolor and oil pastel resist painting,papiermâchéandplaster. Each artist is given the opportunity to learn more about where his or her creative interests lie by having access to a variety of materials and methods.

Homeschool Art Intensive with Outside The Lines Studio (Norfolk)

Tidewater Fencing Club Homeschool Class (ages 8-17)

Tidewater Fencing Club offers daytime classes for home-schooled students. No previous fencing training is necessary. Students will learn the basics of fencing through games, drills, footwork, and bouting. Available to anyone age 8-17
