Girls Who Code – Free Summer Programs (Applications Open!)

Such a valuable program for girls! Girls Who Code is currently enrolling for BOTH of their summer programs. The early decision deadline is February 14, 2024. The regular decision deadline is March 22, 2024.

Cost: FREE

Description: Choose from a 2-week immersion program or a 6-week self-paced experience that will allow you to meet other students and learn in the style that works best for you! All high school students who identify as girls or non-binary can apply, and no prior computer science experience is required.

The two-week Summer Immersion Program (SIP) teaches game design using p5.js, a JavaScript library for creative coding. Participants learn with a dedicated Teaching Team and classmates in live virtual classrooms hosted by top companies like MetLife, Bank of America, Logitech, and Synchrony. SIP is open to current 9th-11th grade girls and non-binary students. Eligible students can even apply for a $300 SIP Student Grant and laptop and hot spot access!

Classes meet M-F for 2-3 hours, followed by independent work time and optional Student Hours.

• Round 1: June 14 – June 28, 2024
• Round 2: July 8 – July 19, 2024
• Round 3: July 29 – August 9, 2024

The six-week Self-Paced Program lets young people learn to code through independent study and real-world projects. Beginners to advanced coders in 9th-12th grade can earn certificates of completion for courses in our Web Development, Cybersecurity, and – new for 2024 – Data Science + AI tracks!

• Courses for the Self-Paced Program begin Monday, July 1, 2024, and run until Friday, August 9th, 2024. Each course in a track takes 3-6 hours to complete
