FREE Admission to Norfolk Botanical Garden – WPA Heritage Celebration

Enjoy FREE Admission to Norfolk Botanical Garden in honor of the 220 African American WPA workers who planted the first azaleas in the garden.

Where: Norfolk Botanical Garden, 6700 Azalea Garden Road Norfolk, Virginia 23518

When: Sunday, September 17, 2023. Free admission from 1 – 5pm. Garden Heritage Celebration is at 2pm.

Description: Join Norfolk Botanical Garden (NBG) for the 15th annual Works Progress Administration (WPA) Garden Heritage Celebration on Sunday, September 17, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.– sponsored by Truist. The celebration honors the 220 African-American women and men who first planted the Garden 85 years ago and recognizes their hard work and dedication. This event will feature a reading of the 74 known WPA worker names, including a new addition this year – with a reception to follow.

Ticket reservations are no longer being accepted, but as long as there is available parking there will be FREE Admission on a First Come, First Served Basis from 1-5pm.
