Final Peanut Butter & Jam VSO Concert Event of the Season!
This weekend the Virginia Symphony Orchestra is holding their final Peanut Buttery & Jam Family Concert of the 2011-2012 Season!
If you haven’t made it to one of these family friendly events before, make sure to head over to Chrysler Hall in Norfolk on Sunday, April 29, 2012 to get in on all the fun. Beginning at 2pm there will be child focused pre-show activities including an instrument “petting zoo” where children can touch, explore and try to play the various instruments. There will also be face painting, and a touch pool on site from the Virginia Aquarium.
The concert itself is family friendly and this month celebrates the coastal connections of Hampton Roads with Water, Water, Everywhere! The music performed will include Handel’s Water Music, music from Pirates of the Carribbean, Anchors Aweigh and more. And God Created Great Whales by Hovaness will also be performed, and will have the extra visual experience of images projected on a large screen above the stage.
An additional performance will include Joe Castillo, the world’s premier “sand story artist” who will debut an all-new sand story set to The Moldau by Smetana. Castillo will create a stunning visual of water’s journey to the sea, which will be projected above the orchestra using sand and a light box.
The concert will take place Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 3pm in Norfolk’s Chrysler Hall. Pre-concert activities begin at 2pm in the lobby and are free to all ticket-holders.
Tickets are $12. For information, contact VSO Patron Services at (757) 892-6366, or visit www.virginiasymphony.org
