  • The Snowman: The 1982 Academy Award–nominated animated short about a boy and his magical snowman, told largely in instrumental music and the haunting holiday song “Walking in the Air.” The VSO performs this iconic soundtrack while the movie plays, and the Virginia Children’s Chorus provides the vocal melodies.
  • The Gift of the Magi: Based on the classic O. Henry short story, this Christmas classic explores the true meaning of the season for a young couple with a surplus of love for each other and a scarcity of funds for gift-giving.
