CHESAPEAKE

Dismal Swamp Canal Trail

Description: Paved, 8.3 mile trail adjacent to the Dismal Swamp Canal and threads through some of the most uniquely historical and ecologically significant habitats in the United States.

Indian River Park

Description: Bike Trail with changes in elevation for mountain bikers

Oak Grove Lake Park
Address: 409 Bryon Street, Chesapeake, VA 23320
Description: 1.5 mile circular multi-use fitness trail for walking, jogging and biking, runs the perimeter of the 65-acre lake.

HAMPTON

Fort Monroe Seawall Trail
Address: Fort Monroe, VA 23651
Description: Get some exercise, enjoy the outdoors, and see historical and scenic views along the Fort Monroe Seawall Trail. The 3.9 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail offers the chance to see wildlife and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking, running, nature trips, and bird watching and is accessible year-round.  Bikes allowed.

Gosnold Hope Park
Address: 901 E. Little Back River Road, Hampton, VA 23669
Description: Hampton BMX, formerly Hampton Supertrack, has been located in Gosnold Hope Park for over 30 years. The track is opened to the public to ride during daylight hours.  The track is closed to free-riding when the track is wet, when volunteers are performing maintenance on the track, or during events.

Matteson Trail
Address: 320 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA 23666
Description: The Matteson Trail is located at the Hampton’s Golf Course and encircles the course. This is a 3-mile nature/fitness asphalt trail.

Sandy Bottom Nature Park
Address: 1255 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, VA 23669
Description: Bikes are allowed on all but two trails, Osprey Point Trail and Wood Duck Trail.

Waterwalk at Central Park
Address: Begin at Bass Pro Shops, 1792 Power Plant Pkwy, Hampton, VA 23666 or Air Power Park, 413 W Mercury Blvd, Hampton, VA 23669
Description: Walkers, runners, and bikers of all ages are welcome to explore this hidden path. Stretching from the Power Plant shopping area to historic Air Power Park, your walk will take you behind Hampton Coliseum and Coliseum Lake. 2 ¼ -mile linear trail.

NEWPORT NEWS

Newport News Bikeway at Newport News Park

Description: 5.3 mile, shaded, hard-packed gravel and natural surface bike loop. Bike rentals available.

Riverview Farm Park Trail

Description: 2 mile paved multi-use trail. Smooth paved ride that’s perfect for the whole family. Helmets are recommended for all riders and are required for riders 14 and younger.

Harwood Mills Trail

Description: 5.9 miles of natural surface mountain bike trails. Three trails of increasing difficulty connected by multi-use trails.

Mariners’ Lake Natural Area Trail
Address: 100 Museum Drive, Newport News, VA 23606
Description: 5 mile (one way) mountain bike trail through the woods in the Mariners’ Lake Natural Area of the Mariners’ Museum and Park.

NORFOLK

Elizabeth River Trail
Address: Norfolk waterfront.
Description: Multi-use trail. 10.5 miles along Norfolk’s iconic waterfront from NSU to Lochhaven.

Northside Park Mountain Bike Trail

Description: Single-track mountain bike trail.  Three trails of varying difficulties.

PORTSMOUTH

Portsmouth City Park

Description: Waterfront trail connects to wooded Friendship Gardens. Great for walking. Paved surfaces for bike riding.

Portsmouth Seawall
Address: 1 Water Street, Portsmouth, VA
Description: Portsmouth’s premiere downtown waterfront boardwalk. 1 mile.

SMITHFIELD / ISLE OF WIGHT

Park to Park Trail
Address: Nike Park, Nike Park Road

Description: The Park-to-Park Trail is an approximately 4 mile multi-use trail connecting Carrollton Nike Park to the Town of Smithfield’s Windsor Castle Park.

SUFFOLK

Seaboard Coastline Trail

City View Park

Providence Park

Stumpy Lake Natural Area

Description: Soft surface trail is​ surrounded by dense forest, Hikers, bikers, walkers and runners share the trail. Off-road bicycle tires recommended.

West Neck Creek Natural Area

Description: This natural area has been kept in its natural state with the exception of a series of shared-use​​ trails that total approximately 2.5 miles of soft path and .3 miles of paved ADA compliant trails.

Williams Farm Park

Description: Three sub-1/2 mile shared-use paths. Skateboards, bikes, razors, kick scooters, and rollerblades are permitted in the skate park.

Battlefield Trail

Description: Seven miles beginning at the visitor center parking lot.

Colonial Parkway

Description: 23-mile roadway. Begins at the visitor center parking lot to Historic Jamestowne visitor center parking lot. Bicycles not permitted in tunnel, however there are directions for circumventing it.

Encampment Tour

New Quarter Park

Description: Nearly 6 miles of mountain bike trails
