Apple Picking in Hampton Roads

I grew up apple picking with my family and I have wonderful memories of family time spent on the apple farm.

There is something about picking your own apples that makes them taste even sweeter! Here are a few local places in Hampton Roads (or a reasonable drive!) if you are craving apples picked fresh from the trees!

This post of locations for U-Pick Apples in Hampton Roads has been updated for 2025 Local Apple Picking and may be updated again with additional information. Please make sure to check links/call ahead to confirm hours and that they are open for picking when you plan to go!

BUSH NECK FARM – WILLIAMSBURG

  • Address: Bush Neck Road, Williamsburg, Virginia 23188

  • Picking information: No update yet for 2025 Apples. Call for updates before heading to the farm. 


CARTER MOUNTAIN ORCHARD – CHARLOTTESVILLE

  • Picking information: Now Open for the 2025 Season. Before picking, you’ll pre-pay by container size. Guests must purchase at least one container for every 2-3 people picking fruit. You may fill your container only once. 


CULLIPHER FARM – VIRGINIA BEACH

  • Address: Cullipher Farm 772 Princess Anne Road Virginia Beach, VA 23457

  • Picking information: Now OPEN for the 2025 pick-your-own apple season! The farm provides the bags for picking. Apples are priced per lb. Pre-picked is available at the market. Last entrance into the field is 2pm. Unfortunately, strollers and carseats, purses, backpacks and diaper bags are not allowed in the orchard due to Food Safety Modernization Act of 2011.
  • Cost: $15 per 1/2 peck bag (holds between 5.5-6 pounds of apples depending on the size of the fruit)
  • Hours/Admission: Open Tuesday-Sunday from 9am-3pm. Closed Mondays.
    • Weekends: Saturday & Sunday only there is a $3 admission fee for U-Pick Apples, per person plus tax. Age limit: Any child who can walk needs a wristband. Weekend Wristbands can be purchased on this link.
    • Weekdays: There is NO admission fee for U-Pick Apples on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays. The farm is closed on Mondays.
  • Also available – Upick Sunflowers (when in bloom), Apple Slushies, Cider Donuts, free playground, farm animals and coming soon – Upick Pumpkins and Fall Corn Maze!

Martin Vineyard & Orchard – this location in North Carolina has closed.
