Apple Picking in Hampton Roads

I grew up apple picking with my family and I have wonderful memories of family time spent on the apple farm. There is something about picking your own apples that makes them taste even sweeter! Here are a few local places in Hampton Roads (or a reasonable drive!) if you are craving apples picked fresh from the trees!

This post of locations for U-Pick Apples in Hampton Roads has been updated for 2023 Local Apple Picking and may be updated again with additional information. Please make sure to check links/call ahead to confirm hours and that they are open for picking when you plan to go!

Bush Neck Farm – WILLIAMSBURG
  • Address: Bush Neck Road, Williamsburg, Virginia 23188

  • Picking information: Planning to open in October 2023 for Pumpkins and Apples. Call for updates before heading to the farm. 

Carter Mountain Orchard – CHARLOTTESVILLE

  • Picking information: OPEN for the 2023 pick-your-own season. Admission tickets are required for ages 12+ on high-volume days. Call or check online for daily availability for apples – increased availability for upick for apples expected in early/mid- September. Please call or check website for updates (and tickets on select dates) before making the drive!

Cullipher Farm – VIRGINIA BEACH

  • Picking information: Currently OPEN for the 2023 pick-your-own apple season! Check their most recent FB post for hours and availability. No pets.
  • Cost: Upick apples are $3.49 per pound.
    Weekends: Saturday & Sunday only there is a $5 admission fee per person plus tax. Age limit: Any child who can walk needs a wristband. Wristbands can be purchased at the ticket window.
    Weekdays: There is NO admission fee Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays.
  • Sept 10 update: Picking Crimson Crisp this week to start the 2023 Apple UPick season. Check availability before heading to the farm.

Martin Vineyard & Orchard – this location in North Carolina has closed.
