Come meet your muse at The Muse Writers Center! Learn more and register here. Creative Writing Explorations Class  (Light snacks provided.) The Muse understands the value of accessibility. Our youth classes are “Pay What You Can”, meaning you name the price you can afford, as high or low as it may be, no questions asked. Creative Writing for Young Writers: Elementary/Middle School (age 8-12) Creative Writing for Young Writers explores the fundamentals of creative writing and encourages each student to find their individual writing voice, no matter the genre (poetry, fiction, comics, songwriting, and screenwriting). Students will explore their creative expression through unique writing prompts, discussion exercises, and opportunities to share and discuss their work. Popular topics include Slaying the Villain, Where a Story Starts, songwriting, Duo Poetry, and screenwriting! The final class culminates in a live reading which friends and family are invited to attend. Learn more and register here. Creative Writing Exploration for Teens: (age 13-17) Creative Writing for Teens encourages students to expand their creative writing by challenging them to elevate their creative voices with new writing techniques. During class, students learn literary craft techniques through lecture, discussion exercises, and writing prompts. Popular topics include villain archetypes, magic system basics, how to write a fight scene, poetry, screenwriting, and more! At the end of class, students are given time to write and share their work. Our final class is a student reading where family and friends are invited to attend. This is a hybrid class, meaning students can join online or in-person. The final class reading is in-person only. This is an advanced writing workshop, built for older high school students to learn how to give and accept constructive feedback on their writing in an MFA-style setting. Kids will develop important athletic skills like balance, speed, and teamwork while boosting confidence and learning the value of staying active. Yorktown's Newest Indoor Playground, Kid Fit Facility, Party Venue and more!! At the Playroom Cafe, we focus on providing engaging, safe and fun play for children 12 years and under. Our space is specifically designed to cater to children 8 and under, but some older children really enjoy it as well! Explore The Playground Cafe in Yorktown! Our 3,375sf access-controlled facility is equipped with both an active, gym play space as well as a calmer, dramatic play and tinker space. For active, gym play, we have a 8' tall rock wall for littles to traverse across, monkey bars and a foam pit for safe and fun landings, soft play tumbling mats, a Jungle Jumparoo and a variety of gym play accessories to challenge and strengthen their gross motor skills. On the calmer side, we have a magical campsite to explore, a playhouse, dolls, activity tables, trains, sensory walls and lots of ways for littles to practice fine motor skills. On the cafe side, we offer our self-serve Magic Coffee and Beverages, as well as snacks and ready-to-eat prepackaged meals. Our cafe offers a variety of seating from soft comfy seating to cafe tables and chairs and bar seating that looks into the play space. Our cafe side also provides books, games and puzzles for older kids who are not playing in our play space to enjoy. We offer open play passes, memberships, child-minding, Kid Fit Classes and party rentals.  The Playroom Cafe is more than just a business, it's a community.
