  • Drifting Into The Blue: Swim through a world of wonder and discover sea creatures lurking from beyond the depths of our oceans. Explore marine biology and its complex ecosystem through the art making process, using unconventional materials to sculpt monstrous sea designs into works of art. We will also spend time in the galleries visiting our current exhibitions Courtney Mattison: Sea Change and Crystal Wagner: Surface Tension for inspiration.
  • A Fantastical Fantasy: Create vibrant works of art inspired by the world of fantasy, dragons, wizards, and fairies. Let your imagination guide you as we create artwork filled with these magical characters and landscapes. We will experiment with a range of materials such as painting, drawing, and sculpture while focusing on foundational techniques.

  • The Ultimate Self Expression Selfie: A self-portrait can be seen as the ultimate form of self-expression. Let’s ditch the cameras and create a series of selfies while exploring different techniques and materials such as print making, drawing, painting, and paper mache. We will also look to historical and contemporary artists and examine their self-portraits and various artistic styles and approaches to self-portraiture.

  • Teen Spring Break Animation Camp: Join us for our week long Teen Spring Break Animation Camp inspired by MOCA’s Just Add Water: Short Animated Film Exhibition. This film series features contemporary animated short films celebrating filmmakers who include water as a significant role. We will look to Just Add Water to help us spark our creativity and examine the various mediums and artistic approaches to animation and storytelling. Register for one or both sessions!
  • 3D Animation: Get an introduction into the world of 3D animation as seen in movies such as Inside Out and Frozen. Explore the principles of this new medium by using Blender – a cutting-edge 3D application. Create your own character animations and look at the history of animated movie productions for inspiration. 
  • Stop Animation: Create simple stop animations using your smartphone and iOS App O’Snap. We will design characters and experiment with hand drawing and collage techniques while examining story and concept. Each student must have iOS compatible mobile device.
