Sky Watch at Northwest River Park (Chesapeake)

If your active child loves stargazing don’t miss the FREE Sky Watch series at Northwest River Park!  Join Back Bay Amateur Astronomers (BBAA) as they bring their scopes and expertise to bear on the sun and our galaxy.

Where: Northwest River Park (Equestrian Area), 1569 Indian Creek Road, Chesapeake VA

When: upcoming dates:

  • October 18, 2025 at sunset
  • November 15, 2025 at sunset
  • December 13, 2025 at sunset

Cost: Free and open to the public

Description: Join Back Bay Amateur Astronomers as they bring their scopes and expertise to bear on the galaxy. Weather permitting: call 757-421-7151 to verify.  Star and planet watching will begin around sunset. For those who would like some help with new telescopes or just want to learn how telescopes work, come early, about 60 minutes before sunset (scheduled start time). Please feel free to come out early with your new telescope and let us help you learn how to use it.

NOTE: Enter the Equestrian Area entrance.  After passing through the first gate, please park outside the large gateposts and then walk over to the telescopes. Please do not drive all the way down to the telescope area. There are signs showing where to park.
