Kids to Parks Day 2026

Saturday, May 16, 2026 is Kids to Parks Day! Kids to Parks Day is an initiative from the National Park Trust to encourage families to get outside and active with the kids!

Kids to Parks Events in Hampton Roads:

Every state park in Virginia is participating with events for the kids to mark the occasion of Kids to Parks Day, including False Cape State Park, First Landing State Park, and York River Park.

Kids To Parks Day – Bay Blast at First Landing: Saturday, May 16, 2026

Spend a day at the Bay during our Bay Blast adventure! Sharpen your casting skills with Backyard Bass Beach Edition, a sandy twist to this fun fishing game. Wade into discovery as we explore what lives beneath the surface of the Chesapeake Bay using seine nets, dip nets, and suction samplers. You’ll get an up-close look at the incredible creatures that call the Bay home and even meet our diamondback terrapin animal ambassadors. It’s a hands-on, family-friendly day of science, exploration, and Bay appreciation!

Kids to Parks – Wetland Wonders Day at York River State Park: Saturday, May 16, 2026

Join in the fun of National Kid’s to Parks Day by seeking live at the water’s edge.  We’ll begin with a hike to our Living Shoreline for some dip netting.  Our catch will be on display for all of our guests to see What’s in the Water.  Be sure to visit the Discovery Room and learn more about aquatic life.

No need to attend one of these events to participate in the spirit of Kids to Parks Day….choose your favorite park and head out to play! Have a great time with your family #outdoors!
