2023 Hampton Roads Youth Poet Laureate

This great opportunity is back again in 2023! Was your active child (along with the rest of us) blown away by the talent and poise of National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman, and her amazing performance at the Presidential inauguration? They may have an opportunity to become the 2023 Hampton Roads Youth Poet Laureate!

Teens with a Purpose, Urban Word, and Hampton Roads Youth Poets are presenting a contest open to all Hampton Roads youth ages 13-18. Spoken word artists, poets, rappers, writers and emcees are invited to enter to win a chance to represent the state of Virginia as the Hampton Roads Youth Poet Laureate. The winner will also earn the right to apply for the National Youth Poet Laureate.
