A FREE Puppet Show from Rainbow Puppet Productions – The Marvelous Land of Oz is coming to Newport News!

Where: The Ella Fitzgerald Theater at Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center – 2410 Wickham Avenue, Newport News, VA 23607

Description: Rainbow Puppet Productions is happy to announce the premiere of its latest production, “The Marvelous Land of Oz.”  Based on the second book in the legendary “Wizard of Oz” series by L. Frank Baum, it tells what happened in Oz after Dorothy’s adventures with the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion.

The show is a fast-paced musical that picks up where the Dorothy story left off.  In the Wizard’s fast exit from the land of Oz in the earlier tale, he makes the Scarecrow the temporary ruler until the rightful heir returns.  But the rightful heir has disappeared and now it’s a race against time and the oncoming Army to save Oz and the Emerald City from destruction.  A delightful new collection of characters joins the adventure including Jack Pumpkinhead, a talking Sawhorse, and a giant Wogglebug.

Additional information: Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Capacity has been limited to less than 50% to allow for social distancing. Masks and/or facial coverings are required.
