FREE Admission to National Parks: 4th Graders & Family!

FOURTH GRADERS
The Every Kid Outdoors program gives every 4th grader in the country, and their family, FREE admission to US National Parks and other federal lands and waters for a full year.
Who qualifies: Any child in the 4th grade, including homeschoolers. The pass covers the 4th grader and the family who comes with them.
When to get it: The program runs on the school year, not the calendar year. A new pass year opens September 1, so rising 4th graders can print theirs at the start of the school year. Kids who finished 4th grade in the spring stay eligible on last year’s pass through August 31.
How to get it: Fourth graders complete a short activity on the Every Kid Outdoors site and print a paper pass. You can trade the paper pass for a durable plastic pass at many federal sites, which is worth doing if you plan to use it more than once. Not every location accepts the paper version, so check ahead.
Worth knowing locally: Hampton Roads families have several federal sites within easy driving distance, including Colonial National Historical Park at Yorktown and Jamestown and Fort Monroe National Monument in Hampton, so the pass gets used more than you would expect without a long road trip.
What a fantastic way to encourage a love of the outdoors! Find out more about the Every Kid Outdoors program and print your pass here: everykidoutdoors.gov
