Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced “Fronk-en-steen”) inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (pronounced “Eye-gore”), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. “It’s alive!” he exclaims as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather’s. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds.

Oct. 4 and 5, the historic Attucks Theatre will continue its celebration of the anniversary of its founding with the 100th Anniversary Community Celebration. The two-day celebration will add a community element to the Attucks Centennial celebration by inviting local artists and organizations to showcase the history of the Attucks and the various roles it has served in the community throughout each decade. The 100th Anniversary Community Celebration is hosted in partnership with the Attucks Centennial Commission, Crispus Attucks Cultural Center, Norfolk Public Library, SevenVenues and the Virginia Arts Festival. The 100th Anniversary Celebration kicks off Friday, Oct. 4 at 7:00 p.m. with entertainment in the style of the 1920’s and 1930’s at the Attucks Theatre. The celebration will continue Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2:00 p.m. in the Attucks Park located at the corner of Church Street and Virginia Beach Boulevard with an Arts in the Park celebration featuring various incubator groups that once held residence at the Theatre. The event will conclude Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Attucks Theatre, with performances highlighting musical performances throughout the decades, focusing on the 1940s-1950s.
