Description:

Witness the transformation of the Virginia Beach Boardwalk as artists unite for Chalk the Walk, turning the boardwalk into a vibrant canvas of color!

During Chalk the Walk, participants create extraordinary four-by-four-foot chalk drawings along three blocks of the boardwalk. Competitors unleash their creativity with themed chalk drawings to be assessed by a panel of judges. Evaluation criteria include composition, use of color, adherence to the theme, and overall creativity. The competition features three divisions: Amateur, Professional, and Youth (ages 12-16).

What kinds of fantastic fantasy worlds can you imagine?  Let books, games, movies, TV, or your own imagination guide you in creating chalk art right on the “canvas” of the Virginia Beach boardwalk.  Scenes, characters, lands, experiences, architecture, transportation, and more are all waiting to be explored as chalk art depicting Flights of Fantasy.

Kids ages 12-16 can compete in the youth division. Free on-site registration is available from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, and capacity is limited. All participants will need to register by 12:30pm and complete artwork by 3:30pm to be considered for prizes. It is also recommended that competitors bring their own chalk. No need to register in advance, just show up and register on-site.
