Creative Process Discussion on How Performers Care with Davóne Tines, Bass-Baritone, Virginia Symphony Orchestra Guest Soloist
What makes us care about a piece of art? What happens when music, words, voice, and personal experience come together to create a meaningful emotional response?
This unique and eclectic gathering combines opera, spoken word, and artistic dialogue inspired by Philip Glass’s new Symphony No 15, "Lincoln". Pioneering opera singer and curator Davóne Tines will explore the creative process behind the work and perform selections from the new symphony.
Norfolk’s own Teens With A Purpose will also perform original works, offering their own perspective on how creative expression can move, challenge, and connect with an audience.
Come for the music. Come for the poetry. Come to experience the creative process and discover how performers transform ideas and personal meaning into passionate art.
Free and open to the public. Great for all ages, public speakers, musicians, and particularly vocalists.
