Virginia Civics Education Week (Jamestown)

September 22 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Celebrate Virginia Civics Education Week with hands-on activities for all ages!

The United States has grappled with how best to balance the rights and responsibilities of individuals with the common good since its beginning. Explore how legacies from early America continue to shape the present. Special programming examines the role of civic engagement in forging a deeper understanding of the world, its people and ourselves.

Search the Jamestown Settlement gallery for artifacts that reflect the ideas and stories that have shaped civic life in Virginia and beyond. Put your ideas into action by building a community block by block, or work with your friends and family in a fun challenge to build a wooden block tower while sparking a conversation about how cooperation, respect and other civic values can make a difference in everyday life.

Whether you’re exploring history, creating or sharing, you’ll discover that civic engagement starts here — with the choices we make and the communities we build.

Daily Activities, 1 – 4 p.m.

Virginia Civics Education Week and Constitution Week activities are included with museum admission.
