VA 250 Transcribe-a-thon at Isle of Wight County Museum (Smithfield)

Join us for a Revolutionary-era transcribe-a-thon! Help us share the Revolutionary stories of Isle of Wight County by visiting for a hands-on opportunity to help make historical documents more searchable and usable for researchers now and in the future. We will use documents from the Library of Virginia’s Legislative Petitions collection focused on Isle of Wight’s Revolutionary-era experiences. This in-person session will include an introduction and a website demonstration to help participants get started on FromThePage–http://fromthepage.com/lva250–the Library of Virginia’s transcription platform. Participants will work independently for the remaining time and are encouraged to ask questions and help each other. The event will conclude with a brief discussion of the interesting stories uncovered during our time together.
