Homeschool Days at Military Aviation Museum (Virginia Beach)

Explore science, history, and aviation at the Military Aviation Museum’s Homeschool Days! Select Tuesdays, September – November.

Join us for an exciting fall full of hands-on learning and adventure for homeschool students! We offer three sessions designed for an enhanced learning experience for each age group: ages 7 – 9. ages 10 – 12, and ages 13 – 15.

Full of exciting, engaging lessons and activities set amongst our one-of-a-kind museum collection, students are sure to have fun learning. Whether it’s a focus on STEM, history, social studies, or even art, our Museum educators will provide an unforgettable learning experience for every student.

Each drop off session runs four hours, 10:00 – 2:00, including a 30-minute lunch break. Pre-registration is required, and sessions are capped at 20 students for ages 7-9 and 10-12, and 10 students for ages 13-15. Lunch is not provided and students must be dropped off with a packed lunch and water bottle(s). There are no on site café options at the Museum.

October: Flight Operations of World War II

November: Flight Without Sight!

November 3: Ages 7-9 | November 10: Ages 10-12 | November 17: Ages 13-15

Keep an eye on your instruments as you learn how pilots navigated the skies without actually seeing what was out there! Students will learn about methods of detecting aircraft and objects such as radar, how pilots rely on their instruments to keep flying even when they couldn’t see out of their cockpit, and how to plot out flights and navigate them in the air.

→ Take a deep dive into instruments-based flight with simulated training

→ Learn how to read and draw out flight plans on maps for navigation

→ Uncover the history of radar and simulate its uses during the war
