Focus Tours at Thoroughgood House: Plantapalooza(Virginia Beach)

While our daily tours give visitors a good overview of life on the Thoroughgood property, our weekly summer Focus Tours provide a deeper dive into specific areas of interest. Please click on the individual tour titles below for a detailed description of that week’s offering.

All 2026 Focus Tours are $5 per person. All tours will take place at the Thoroughgood House: 1636 Parish Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23455

Advanced registration is highly encouraged but walkups are welcome! Tours run every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour.

The Virginia Beach History Museums’ historic homes were the center of massive plantations growing a variety of plants. Some were grown for profit, some for food, others for medicinal purposes, and still others for clothing.
Come see the Thoroughgood House herb garden and learn about the many ways that plants were central to life in the colonial era.
