ERT Botanical Tour: Chesterfield Heights Resiliency (Norfolk)
October 24 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
Join the Norfolk Master Gardeners every 4th Saturday, in the months of April to October, for the Botanical Tour Series! Explore our community, get expert information on plants and plant care, and learn something new! This tour is FREE and open to everyone, no registration required.
This will be our last botanical tour of the year! Norfolk Master Gardeners will lead a walking tour of the Chesterfield Heights neighborhood that will focus on results from a $112-million federal grant awarded in 2016 for coastal resilience. The grant paid for a living shoreline with native plants plus oyster reefs, bioswales, berms, a stormwater park, and permeable hardscape — all designed to reduce frequent tidal and storm flooding in the neighborhood along the Elizabeth River.
Parking:Â
Meet at the corner of Kimball Terrace and Kimball Loop. The best address to use is for the Grandy Village Learning Center at 2971 Kimball Loop. There is parking at a pump station, on the streets and at the learning center.
