This weekend there is a LOT happening at the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk!
On Saturday, May 19th one of the most creative fundraisers around is taking place - Sky Art! Participants pay an entrance fee of $15 (adult) or $10 (child) and receive a t-shirt with specified colors. Everyone is stationed in a particular location and photographed from above to create artwork for a poster which is then entered into a related contest.
On Saturday, May 20th it is Carnival of the Animals! The Virginia Arts Festival and the Virginia Zoo are teaming up to present Carnival of the Animals, an event ful of fun, exploration and discovery set to classical music. On site activities include:
- A bounce house
- Snow cones
- Face Painting
- Musical performances
- Scavenger hunt
- Train rides
- Twisted Sisters Cupcakes
- Character: Ladybug Girl!
- Animal Meet & Greet
The event kicks off at 11am with the concert at 2pm. Kids are welcome to come dressed as their favorite Zoo animal.
It will be a blast to watch the little ones as they realize that classical instruments can sound so much like the animals they visit at the Zoo! Tickets are $15 (ages 2+) and $5 for Zoo Members. Ticket includes both Zoo admission and the concert. Visit www.virginiazoo.org or www.vafest.org for additional information.
