Description: No one is immune to mental illness- and that’s why the Walk and Talk series is bring brought to the forefront of our community. Hosted by Mentally Healthy Norfolk Collaborative and Elizabeth River Trail, the event consists of a self-guided, one-mile walk along the Elizabeth River Trail starting at 1170 E. Water Street near Harbor Park. The goal is to engage and empower our residents to join the work in addressing mental health in Hampton Roads by reducing stigma, encouraging conversation, and pointing people to help.

  • Mentally Healthy Norfolk and City of Norfolk partners will have tables to provide education and resources to walkers.
  • As you continue along the trail, you’ll encounter the Teen Zone hosted by the Blocker YMCA Teen Leaders, and get a chance to learn directly from the teens.
  • Just around the corner, you’ll see the Wellness and Meditation Station- take a breath, learn some simple moves and take in the view of the Elizabeth River Trail.
  • When you’re ready, find your way down to The Yard at Waterside. Reflect and connect with your friends and family, talk about some of the information you learned or gathered. You’ll be at the heart of Norfolk- enjoy lunch at the Waterside District, or head into Downtown for coffee, food and fun!
