Birmingham Royal Ballet Presents Romeo and Juliet with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra

  • The story: Shakespeare’s famous tragedy about two star-crossed teenagers in love serves as a cautionary tale to grudge-bearing elders and impetuous youth alike.
  • The characters: the young couple at the center, their feuding parents, their feuding friends, lots of other people who are feuding
  • The score: Every insult, sword fight, and stolen kiss comes sonically to life courtesy of Sergei Prokofiev, praised throughout history for his emotionally vivid compositions.
