Phoebus – Sock-Burnin’ Dock Party

Bring your old cotton/wool socks (and some new socks to donate) to the sock-burnin’ dock party on March 26th in Phoebus!

Where: Phoebus Waterfront Park, 35 Water Street, Hampton, VA, 23663

When: Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 12-6pm

Cost: No cost to attend but a sock donation for the Salvation Army is welcomed

Description: The Phoebus community will kick off its 2022 events calendar on Saturday, March 26, with a sock-burnin’ dock party at Waterfront Park (35 Water St.). The event is inspired by the tradition of sailors welcoming spring by burning the socks they had worn all winter for warmth. At the Phoebus event, guests will be invited to throw their old cotton or wool socks into a fire – and also to donate new socks to the Salvation Army, which will be collecting them for donation to the needy. The event will be held Saturday, March 26, from noon-6 p.m., with live music, food and drink vendors, and various maritime displays.
