Military Summer Reading Programs

Summer Reading Programs are starting soon at your local Military Libraries!

Read, Renew, Repeat is the theme for the DoD-MWR Libraries 2025 summer reading program! These programs are open to Military and DOD dependents. Find the summer reading on ANY military installation on this link: www.beanstack.com/dod.

The physical MWR Library locations in Hampton Roads (and their summer reading information) are listed below:

The Bateman Library on Langley Air Force Base will host the Summer Reading Program from June 9 to August 8, 2025. Squadrons, register as a group to compete in our 5th Annual Squadron Reading Challenge!
    • Call the library at (757) 764-2906 or visit their Website for more information and to sign up.

    • This includes Pre-K (0-4) Parents also get credit for reading to their children!  The other categories are Children (5-12), Teens (13-17) and Adults (18+).

Groninger Library has set a 2025 goal to have 850,000 minutes read from June 15th – August 9th, 2025.
JEB Little Creek Library & Fort Story Library will run their Summer Reading Program together from June 23 – September 1, 2025.

Not near a base library?
If you are not near a base library, you can participate in the DoD-MWR Virtual Summer Reading Program. This online program is designed for Guard, Reserve, and Active Duty children and teens who don’t live near military bases and runs from May 26 to September 1, 2025.
