Guest Post- Uses For Leftover Halloween Candy

Uses For Leftover Halloween Candy

Sharon is from Momondealz where she helps her readers save money by using coupons, freebies and more! She is a former Virginia Beach teacher who also enjoys creating frugal meals and crafts with her husband and sons.

Do you still have some leftover Halloween candy lying around the house tempting you and your family? Here are some ideas on how to put it to good use!

  • Candy Education– Candy can be used to educate you child in many areas such as math or science. For Math, practice some estimation by having your child guess how many licks it will take to get to the middle of a Tootsie Roll Pop, or practice addition and subtraction using skittles and M &M’s! For Science there are numerous science experiments you can perform with candy. My favorite is dropping colored candy in water and showing how colors “melt” (shown above).
  • Donate it. You can drop it off to nursing homes, children hospitals, or use it for Operation Shoebox.
  • Send it in to your child’s teacher. As a former teacher, I spent a lot of money on items for my class treaure jar. By sending in your leftover candy, you can help the teacher provide some positive reinforcement in the classroom!
  • Take it to work. Co-workers or clients can always use some cheering up with candy!
  • Make holiday decorations with it. I love wreaths and advent calendars made of candy. Also, don’t forget about making gingerbread houses at Christmas!
  • Save for upcoming birthday pinatas or goodie bags. All my boys have winter birthdays so this works perfectly for me!
  • Use it in baked goods such as cookies or cakes.
  • Candy architecture-Have your child build candy buildings, cities, or cars/trucks/trains with the candy. Let their imaginations go!
